Ewing Park Skateboard Area Gets Lights

Skaters will no longer have to do tricks and jumps in the dark while skateboarding in Ewing Park. Lights have been added to the skateboard park, and according to Councilman Caleb Cragle, the project itself and the cost of the lighting are minimal. Cragle is the Parks and Recreation Chair for the borough and said he spends a lot of time in the park with his daughter. REMINDER: Military Banner Submission Deadline Approaching

The Military Banners Programs approved by the Borough of Ellwood City earlier this year has a deadline fast approaching. “As some people may have heard the military banner project did get approved by council and with this, forms have been flowing in,” says organizer Gabby Gretch. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Amber Marie Russo, 30, of New Castle, is charged with one count of criminal mischief after police responded to a residence in Hickory Township, Lawrence County. According to a state police report, New Castle police responded to the residence on March 26 at midnight and, upon further investigation, discovered Russo had shattered a glass pane upon a window at the residence belonging to her former paramour, a 27-year-old male from New Castle. LHS Class of ’57 Announces Second Scholarship Opportunity

A second scholarship, worth $2,000, will be offered this year, in addition to the $5,000 scholarship and $500 essay award given by the 1957 Lincoln High School graduating class. The $2,000 award is designated for a 2021 Lincoln High School graduate who will continue his or her education for two years or less at a trade school, community college, nursing or cosmetology program or similar school. Ellwood City Man Dies In 2-Vehicle Crash In West Deer Township

An Ellwood City man died in a two-vehicle crash in West Deer on Monday morning. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man on Tuesday as Mark Tedrow, 35. The crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. in the 300 block of Deer Creek Valley Road. According to West Deer police Chief Jon Lape, Tedrow was driving a box truck south on Deer Creek Valley Road when just south of Tarentum-Culmerville Road he veered off the road for about 50 feet.
