Riverside Lions Continues Hygiene Project With Hygiene Boxes At Local Stores

They’re back! Pictured with King Lion Chip Campbell of the Riverside/Hopewell Lions Club are Joe Cisco from the Giant Eagle store and Heather Ciallella of the Franklin Township Dollar General Store, standing
beside the Hygiene Helpers boxes located at their respective stores.

The box at Giant Eagle is located at the end of the Fast Checkout line and Dollar Generals is located by the last check-out register. The Riverside club has placed Hygiene Helpers boxes in both the Franklin Township Giant Eagle and Dollar General stores in anticipation of the start of the new school year.

The boxes are there to accept donations of Hygiene products and as in the past, will be donated to the Riverside School system, Holy Redeemer Food Bank and Ellwood school system.

The Hygiene project was started two years ago by King Lion Campbell with a single homemade box at Giant Eagle and last year was picked up by the Dollar General store. Last year King Lion Campbell was the District Governor of 14N and got the support of his Cabinet to promote the project District wide.

The boxes were furnished for free to Lions clubs throughout the 5 counties in the District with the understanding the boxes were the clubs to do with as they pleased. It was the clubs decision to place them where they wanted and donate to who they wanted to.

“It’s a win, win, win situation, the stores sell a bit more, the Lions get some recognition and get to help someone, “We Serve”, and the people in need get a valuable commodity. Hygiene products are often overlooked when people think of things needed for those having a hard time, but they are one of the most sought after articles. Particularly feminine hygiene products. 1 in 5 girls have missed some school for lack of personal protection. If you have trouble affording food, you can bet hygiene products are usually lower on your list” says Chip Campbell of the Riverside Lions Club.

The Lions would like to thank Gina Felouzis of Giant Eagle and Chris Radich of Dollar General for their support in this project.

Please take the opportunity to support the Lions and help your neighbors. Look for the boxes. Anything is appreciated, so don’t think your single item is not appreciated, it is. It’s better to give one small item than nothing at all. 100% of all fundraising by the Lions goes back to the community.

Any questions or comments, or if you’d like to join the Lions contact IPDG Campbell at 724-944-1869.
