Lawrence County Awarded $1.8M For Renter Assistance

Lawrence County has been awarded $1,782,453.64 to assist renters who have experienced financial hardship due to COVID-19 with rent and utility payments. County Commission Morgan Boyd made the brief announcement on his social media page Wednesday evening. Club Hope Founder Nominated For Woman of Courage Award

Club Hope Foundation founder Cara Atkinson has been nominated and chosen for the top of of the 2021 Woman of Courage Award through the Pink Pamper Foundation. This award is given yearly at the Pink Pamper’s Annual Bubble Ball, which will be held this year on Friday, October 8th at the Doubletree Hotel in Cranberry. The nominees were selected by a committee through the Pink Pamper non-profit and the winner is selected through a system of voting online. Ellwood City Fire Department Offering CPR/AED Class

The Ellwood City Fire Department is offering its monthly CPR/AED Class and First Aid class next week. The class is schedule to take place Wednesday September, 15th at 6:00 p.m. at the Ellwood City Fire Department fire station. ECFD offers American Heart Association courses, BLS Healthcare provider, Heartsaver for the general public, and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid for teachers and staff of preschools and day cares. American Legion & Military Veterans Honor Guard To Host Military Funeral Service

The Ellwood City American Legion Post 157 and The Beaver and Lawrence Counties Military Veterans Honor Guard will host a military funeral service for those Ellwood City area veterans, who because of the pandemic were unable to have the service at their funeral. The program will be held at the Folino Shelter in Ewing Park, Ellwood City on Sunday, September 19th at 2:00 PM. ELLWOOD WOMAN CHARGED IN CAPITOL RIOTS: Julia Jeanette Sizer of Ellwood City surrendered Thursday morning on multiple charges as a result of her attendance at the January Capitol riots. Riverside Beaver Co. SD Masking Order Update

The Riverside Beaver County School District has posted a masking order update from its administration on the district website this week. ECASD to Enforce State’s Mask Mandate

Although the Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors didn’t take any formal action Thursday evening regarding an announcement on August 31 from Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf that masks are required in schools, the district does plan to enforce the mandate. Wolf announced the secretary of health’s order mandating masks in the state for all schools and licensed child care centers. The new requirement will take effect on Tuesday, September 7 and requires students, teachers and staff to wear masks when inside school buildings.
