Ellwood City Community Health Foundation Grants Money to Ellwood City Fire Department

The old Hospital Foundation, now known as The Ellwood City Community Health Association, has donated $57,772.10 to the Ellwood City Volunteer Fire Department to assist with equipment for the QRS (Quick Response Service). The fire department responds to medical emergencies in the borough and stabilizes patients until an EMS unit can get on scene. When the former Ellwood City Hospital was purchased by Americore Holdings in 2017 it became a for-profit entity therefore they were not able to donate money to them any longer, and from 2017-2020 the foundation went through the process to become a separate non-profit entity. Riverside High School’s promenade will mark the coronation of the Prom King and Prom Queen on Friday, May 13. Promenade is held at the high school beginning at 5:30, when students will first promenade in the gymnasium then proceed to the auditorium. ECASD Board of Directors Approves Proposed Final Budget; Allowance for Stadium Project Change Orders

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors moved to approve the 2022-23 Proposed Final General Fund Budget with revenues in the amount of $29,809,784 and expenditures in the amount of $32,540,197 with an allocation from fund balance in the amount of $2,730,413. In addition the board voted to allow the Administration to accept change orders at Helling Stadium for concrete repair around the visitors concession stand, asphalt repair in front of the home bleachers, and endzone design not to exceed the anticipated credit for asphalt and conduit work. Four Lincoln High School lettermen will be continuing their athletic careers at Westminster College this fall. The four seniors recently signing athletic letters of intent, according to John Sovich, Lincoln Senior High School principal, and Curt Agostinelli, Ellwood City’s athletic director, are Stephen Antuono, Alyssa Jeffcoat, Angelina Nardone, and Kayla Servick. Ellwood City Area School District Begins Capital Improvement Projects

According to a press release from the district, Ellwood City Area School District capital improvements have begun throughout the district. As part of an extensive capital improvement project that includes work at all four district buildings, the most visible project is underway. The district is replacing the track surface and installing turf at Helling Stadium. “The track surface was lifting and was no longer safe and the addition of turf to the football field will allow us to expand the use of the field to so much more than just football. Dozens of different careers were on display at North Side Primary last week as part of Parent Career Day on May 5th. School to work director, principal and 28 different careers were on display for 5, 6, 7 and 8-year-olds. Baby cows, goats, military, tow truck, engineers, EC Forge, EC Fire, Chippewa PD, Vinny’s, a welder….to name a few! Avoid Scams: New Wave of Email, Text Fraud

There is another round of scams circling the residents of Ellwood City and surrounding areas, according to Mayor Anthony Court. Court said the latest scam is an email that tells the recipient that money has been withdrawn from their bank account. Court said the email prompts the recipient to provide personal information that leaves that person susceptible to identity theft and financial loss. He said the best thing residents can do is delete any emails or texts that seem to be “phishing” for personal or financial information. Bernstine to Host Concealed Carry Seminar May 11

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) is inviting area residents to a Concealed Carry Seminar as a way to further understand their rights with respect to the state’s firearms laws and protections.
