Lincoln High School Building Updates

Lincoln High School is undergoing some renovations to their science wing and the exterior curtain wall of the building. The project was to replace a curtain wall along the science wing of the high school. The curtain wall was inefficient as far as heating and cooling since it was single pane windows and aluminum framing. “The decision to replace the wall occurred this past spring and work began as soon as school let out in May,” Superintendent, Joseph E. BC3 Golf Outing Draws 110, Raises Record $90K to Support Student Scholarships

Ellwood City Junior High Cheerleaders Painting Paw Prints

The Ellwood City Junior High Cheerleaders are painting paw prints across Lawrence Ave. today as well as making their way all over Ellwood City as a fundraiser for the cheer-leading boosters. The girls line a paw print stencil with chalk and then hand paint the paw print on the cement. Venezie Sporting Goods & Apparel is starting a scholarship for students in both Ellwood City and Riverside School Districts to start. PHOTOS: Updates on Bridge Construction Around Ellwood City

Koppel Bridge Updates According to PennDOT:  The $27.58 million Route 351 Koppel Bridge replacement project continues in 2018 with steel erection, and pier and retaining wall construction to the bridge connecting Koppel Borough to North Sewickley Township over Beaver River. Traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge during the construction of the new bridge. An approximate three-month closure with detour will occur in the summer of 2019. Additional work includes signage, pavement markings, drainage, and guiderail installation. New Mural Underway on the Fifth Street Underpass

Ellwood City Council gave permission last week to let the nonprofit Kitchen Cabinet group commission a local artist to paint murals on the north and south side facades of the Fifth Street underpass. Woodrow Cowher of Ellwood City, who recently completed the mural at Sweet Caroline’s ice cream shop on Lawrence Ave, began work this week. Officials hope to have the project completed by the end of summer. The project, which is funded through the Hoyt Foundation and also supported by Ellwood Community Enrichment, is expected to take about three weeks to complete.
