BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing Unveils 3 New Career Programs

(New Castle) BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing has become the first of Butler County Community College’s five additional sites to offer associate of applied science degree programs in office administration-medical and in accounting, and the second in office administration-executive – career programs that will allow students to develop skills needed to enter the workforce immediately after graduation. Students completing an associate degree in office administration-medical can work as secretaries or administrative assistants in a medical environment. Those professions in 2016 paid an average salary of $34,600 in Pennsylvania, according to the state Department of Labor and Industry. Employees with experience earned…


RECAP: The Ellwood City Carpenter’s Project 17th Year

For five days each summer, the Ellwood City Carpenter’s Project teams up with churches around the area to complete exterior house projects throughout Ellwood City and Riverside school districts. This year the project is taking place from July 9 to 13. The Carpenter’s Project started back in 2002 when Chuck and Marsha Timblin of Calvin Presbyterian Church of Ellwood City wanted to see their church and other local churches come together for one summer to help those in the community who were either physically or financially unable to fix their homes on their own. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Festival

The Ellwood City Festival took place all weekend, there were competitions including the Little Miss Firecracker pageant and Ledger 10K race. Dia Rose Greco, daughter of Robert and Jennier Greco, was named the 2018 Little Miss Firecracker. She was dressed as a USO hostess and gave a salute to the crowd. Doug Petrik was the overall winner of the Ledger 10K race for the fourth consecutive year. His finish time was 35:35.6. Performances by local jazz, country and rock bands kept the music flowing all three days. The festival, as always, finished the weekend with fireworks provided by Zambelli International. Below…

Ellwood City’s 37th Annual Arts, Crafts, Entertainment and Food Festival started today at 11 a.m. The festival will run throughout the weekend ending on July 1 at 10 p.m. We had the chance to go down to the festival and ask some of the vendors questions about why they come to the EC Festival and what they have. The Band is set to perform at the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food and Entertainment Festival on June 30 at 3:30 p.m. In 2002, veteran western Pennsylvania bluegrass mandolinist Bob Artis was invited to put together a one-show-only bluegrass band to perform with the Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra at their debut concert to be held in April 2003. Nickel Plated Revolver to Perform at Ellwood City Festival Nickel Plated Revolver is a cover rock band that originated in Ellwood City around six years ago. There are five members in the band, Chrissy Paglia on Vocals, Todd Swogger on Guitar, Dave Fowler on Vocals and guitar, Steve Confer on Bass and Mark Barnes on Drums.
