Ellwood City’s Memorial Day parade will be held May 27th. The parade will start at 10 a.m. on the Veterans Bridge on Fifth Street. It will travel to Crescent Avenue, over to Eighth Street, down to Lawrence Avenue, back to Fifth and then take Spring Avenue into Legion Park, where a 45-minute memorial event will be held. Several veterans and local leaders will speak, the borough’s civic chorale will perform, and a flag-raising ceremony held. (Butler, PA) Dr. Nick Neupauer, president of Butler County Community College since 2007, has been selected as the recipient of the third Jean B. Purvis Community Cornerstone Award, which honors those who have made significant contributions to Butler County and who, when recognizing a need, “try to fill it,” the award’s 97-year-old namesake said. Mayor Anthony Court announced today, with the beginning of summer upon us, the Ellwood City residents will once again turn their properties into beautiful landscapes, bringing our neighborhoods back to life. This will be the 9th year that Mayor Court will present “Beautification Awards” and restaurant certificates to six (6) area residents who take pride in their properties, throughout Ellwood City.
