Ellwood City’s Own Clock Tower Fairy

Cassandra Douglas, Ellwood City Native has written a children’s book centered on the Ellwood City Lincoln Clock Tower. “The Clock Tower Fairy: Ellwood City Tales Book One,” is about a timekeeping fairy, who has to change the clock every hour when her sand timer runs out. The book takes you on a journey of uncertainty, where the clock tower fairy wants to take the night off from changing the time because she is tired. Ellwood City JR High Softball Team Remains Undefeated

The good news for Blackhawk was that they scored the first run of the game. The bad news was The Lady Wolverines scoring the next 18 runs to win in a 3 inning mercy rule shortened game Monday evening at Stiefel Park. Mollie Street led the offense with a triple and single. Kali Barnett also tripled off the fence in centerfield and Kyla Servick doubled. Aliya Garroway, Angie Nardone, Grace Balin, Jenna Vetica, and Kaylani Leos all contributed singles. Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of May 7

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Wednesday, May 9, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. An Ellwood City tradition continued Friday, May 4 at Sons of Italy Hall. For the 71st consecutive year Lincoln High School juniors, seniors and their guests enjoyed the after prom party provided by the Ellwood City After Prom Committee. The prom king and queen of the night were, King Jarrett Lubich and Queen Grace Blake. DJ Ken Raisor of Sabre David Entertainment provided the music for dancing. Group Cites Constitutional Article During Town Hall Meeting

Town hall organizers urged Ellwood City residents to oppose House Bill 2030 at a meeting on Thursday, May 3 in the municipal building. The event speakers believed the bill, which would potentially cut the borough’s budget by $1.45 million dollars, would be devastating to the community. Visitor Stephanie Muntean acknowledged the borough has problems that need solved but feared the precedent of state legislation to control a municipality. “We have to control our own borough,” Muntean said. PHOTOS: Ellwood Softball Senior Night Cut Short By Rain

Thursday evening’s Ellwood City softball contest was called due to rain in the top of the second inning with the Wolverines leading 1-0 over Beaver Falls.  Senior Breonna Streit led off with a base hit and scored on an RBI single by Maria Ioanilli to give the Wolverines the early lead. Madi Krugh struck out two Tigers in her 1 1/3 innings before the rain forced the delay and cancellation. The Lady Wolverines (5-4 overall) are next scheduled for road contest next week, first at Hopewell on Wednesday, May 9th, and later traveling to New Castle on Thursday, May 10th. …

Group Discusses House Bill 2030 at Town Hall Meeting

A group of concerned residents in Ellwood City met for a Town Hall meeting Thursday night at the Municipal Building, to present facts about House Bill 2030. Mary Ann Viccari, who served 40 years in borough administration, presented a PowerPoint at the town hall meeting that focused on facts about HB 2030. The meeting primarily focused on what would happen if HB 2030 did pass and how it would affect the community and jobs within it.
