Visitors Request Security Improvements for Ellwood School District

The Ellwood City School Board agreed to examine forming a safety committee following visitor concerns during its agenda meeting on Monday. In the wake of last month’s Florida school shooting, several Ellwood school district residents bonded together to address safety issues with the board. Chief among concerns were improving internal security, entrance to the school buildings as well as individual classrooms, and reducing bullying. Visitors also requested the district to implement a safety committee, as Riverside School District has done. Ellwood City Kindergarten Registration Announced

Ms. Christine Gibson, Principal of North Side Primary School, announces that Kindergarten Registration for the 2018-19 school year in the Ellwood City Area School District will be conducted on March 20, 21, 22, 2018 at the North Side Primary School. As part of the registration process, forms soliciting names of eligible kindergarten children have been sent home with elementary students. To be eligible for Kindergarten in 2018, children must be five years old prior to August 15, 2018. Ellwood City Announces Utility Account Budget Plan

According to a press release made available by the Borough of Ellwood City, the Borough Council adopted Resolution #2004-4 approving a budget plan for utility accounts. Under the plan customers may complete an application form provided by the Borough during the annual open enrollment period lasting from the third Monday in March (March 19) through the third Friday in April (April 20). The first budget-billing amount will appear on the May utility bill. The maximum budget periods will be twelve (12) months with all balances due to be settled in the 12th month. Riverside’s Kralic Ties WPIAL Record, Takes 1st Place in 100-yard Butterfly

Riverside senior Dean Kralic tied a WPIAL record Thursday at the Class 2A Swimming Championships at the University of Pittsburgh.  In doing so, Kralic took first place in the 100-yard  butterfly in Class-AA. Kralic won the event with a time of 50.29 seconds and joined several Riverside teammates who placed and advanced to PIAA Championships.  Panthers Josiah Shaffer, Dylan Griffith and Donnie Paracca each placed second in the 200 medley relay. According to information made available by the Ellwood City Police Department on Thursday, residents in the Ellwood City area have been receiving calls from an individuals with foreign accent, claiming they’re MICROSOFT Security and the resident(s) computer is malfunctioning. The caller goes on to make reference to Windows, Excel and other Microsoft products. The call back number provided is (877) 930-8384.
