VIDEO: Overnight Car Crash In North Sewickley Twp, 1 Injured

A motorist was taken to the hospital after crashing into a Beaver County home early Wednesday morning. According to a published report, the crash happened near the intersection of Mercer and Brighton roads in North Sewickley Township, across from Sumner’s Car Wash, around 2:50 a.m. The vehicle went off the road, through some bushes and struck the chimney, which scattered bricks and debris throughout the yard.   Car crashes into home, bricks fly everywhere. Historical Society Welcomes Guest Speaker On April 9

Louise Carroll will be the guest speaker at the April 9th membership meeting of the Ellwood City Area Historical Society. She will portray Martha Greene, wife of Merritt Green, who came here in 1889, to help establish Ellwood, as a future resort town. Mrs. Greene was well impressed with the fledgling town of Ellwood and expressed her thoughts in her own writings. UPDATED: Portersville Road Bridge CLOSED April 9 through July 31, Detours Posted

[UPDATE 4/3/18] PennDOT has announced that a Route 488 detour in Wayne and Perry townships has been pushed back a week due to weather concerns. The Portersville Road Bridge on Route 488 in Wayne and Perry townships will be closed to traffic through July 31. Bridge replacement work will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 9 on Route 488 over Slippery Rock Creek between Hickernell Road and Wurtemburg Road (Route 2003).  The bridge will close to traffic continuously through Tuesday, July 31. Ellwood City Wolverines Can’t Catch Up To Armstrong

Ellwood City watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-4 loss to Armstrong on Saturday. Armstrong scored on a ground out by Caleb Harriger, a walk by Josh Hepler, an error, and a stolen base by Paul Cypher in a 5-run first inning. The Wolverines struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Armstrong, giving up 14 runs on 11 hits, with the defense surrendering four errors.
