Wolverines Keep Playoff Hopes Alive, Shutout Shady Side Academy

Ellwood City defeated Shady Side Academy 4-0 on Monday as Ryan Gibbons and Ryan Hampton combined to toss a three-hit shutout. Ellwood City fired up the offense in the first inning, when Samuel DiCaprio singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. The Wolverines put up a four-spot in the first frame, accounting for all of the game’s offense. Both teams accounted for only seven hits – all singles. Gibbons got the win for the Wolverines. Perry Township Annual Clean-Up Day

On May 11 Perry Township will be holding their Annual Clean-Up Day. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 12:00 p.m. There will be a $10.00 fee for each load whether it’s pick-up or automobile. For any load larger than a pick-up or automobile, a fee of $50.00 per load will be charged. There will be two collection sites on at the parking lots of the Perry Township Municipal Building and the Wurtemburg Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department. Kids Read Now Comes To North Side Primary

On Thursday, May 16 from 6-7pm, North Side Primary is hosting Kids Read Now Family Reading Night. Kids Read Now is a nationwide organization that pairs with school districts to keep reading a priority, even throughout the summer months. The goal is to close the achievement gap and eliminate the summer reading slide that occurs during the summer break. 2019 Mayor’s Beautification Award

Mayor Anthony Court announced today, with the beginning of summer upon us, the Ellwood City residents will once again turn their properties into beautiful landscapes, bringing our neighborhoods back to life. This will be the 9th year that Mayor Court will present “Beautification Awards” and restaurant certificates to six (6) area residents who take pride in their properties, throughout Ellwood City. Junior High Softball Team Defeats Shenango; Record Improves To 9-2

The Lady Wolverines put together a solid effort and defeated Shenango on Tuesday afternoon at Stiefel Park by a score of 10-0.  The game was shortened to 5 innings due to the mercy rule. EC Varsity Softball Team Defeats Hopewell, Earns 10-Win Regular Season

The Lady Wolverines closed out section play strongly as they defeated Hopewell Thursday afternoon by a score of 9-0.  The team improves to 10-5 on the season and finished section play with a record of 7-3. Makinley Magill got things started in the top of the second as she laced a double into left-center field.  Magill scored as Kyla Servick’s perfectly placed bunt single was thrown into right field for a two-base error.  Ariana Garroway walked with two outs to put runners on first and third.  Garroway and Servick then executed a double steal to plate the second run. Riverside Boys Track & Field Advance to WPIAL Championships

Two-time defending WPIAL champion Riverside boys track & field team advanced to the WPIAL championships this week after semifinal meet victory on Tuesday. The Riverside boys will go for their third title in a row and will attempt to knock off Class AA challengers Shenango, South Park and Waynesburg.  Last year the Panthers defeated Mohawk, South Park, and Freedom to claim its championship. Committee to Consider Farmer “Legacy” Tax Credit Measure

The Senate Finance Committee will meet today (May 1) to consider a measure that is intended to help new farmers get started in the business, according to Committee Chairman Scott Hutchinson (R-21). The Finance Committee will meet at 10 a.m. in Room 8E-A of the East Wing of the State Capitol Complex, Harrisburg, to consider three bills.
