Riverside’s Hand Finishes Strong In Opening Round at US Junior Amateur Championship
Riverside’s Justin Hand posted an opening-round 76 (+5) on Monday in the 72nd U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at historic Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. After struggling on the front nine of the round, including posting a triple-bogey, Hand settled down and fired a two-under 34 on the back-nine to level out to his first-round 76. The round sets him tied for 64th place out of 156 golfers. Hand qualified for the Amateur Championship in June after shooting a 69 at the Grove City Country Club, finishing first out of 46 golfers in the sectional qualifier.
