Dom Viccari Day Designated

Dom Viccari received a proclamation from Mayor Court this week.  Saturday is designated as ‘Dom Viccari Day’ in the borough on his 87th birthday in honor of his 65 years of service to the community.

In a submitted speech by Mayor Court, he states the following:

It is a great honor for me to present this very special Proclamation to a special person, Dom Viccari. Dom’s entire life has been lived and surrounded around Ellwood City, in both a professional aspect as well as his total involvement in the community.

He has served on many committee’s that have not only helped our community grow but have helped build Ellwood City to what it is today, a community that everyone who lives here is proud to call “home”.

Many people remember Dom from his 52 years at the Ellwood City Ledger, as well as his terms serving Borough Council and later as the Borough Manager. Dom always seems to have put others and his community first, and it shows on the many accomplishments he has been involved with, both in Ellwood City and the surrounding Lawrence County communities.

Our community is very lucky to have someone like Dom Viccari. He is someone who loves the people enough to want a better, more friendly and prosperous community to live and raise a family. Dom wears many hats, serving as Director, Manager, Funding Chairman, and President on several different committees. He’s been involved in the start-up and/or improvement of several different area programs in Ellwood City and all across Lawrence County. His accomplishments are large and live, from raising funds for the Community Centers to honoring hero’s like the “We Remember” program for the 911 terrorist attacks on this Great Country, and the many more programs that have kept Ellwood City growing and evolving as a top notch city, a city that people love and a place people enjoy raising their families. His spearheading of programs that are both small and large have made Ellwood City a wonderful place to call home.

Dom also served on the Arts, Crafts, and Food Festival committee for over 30 years and had a hand in making it an annual event that people, from all over the country, come to enjoy each summer. The Festival Committee was active in donating funds to improve our parks and help fund community projects.

Dom has accomplished so much in his lifetime, too numerous to specifically mention each one, but Ellwood City is so proud of all your accomplishments and your dedicated commitment to the people and to the town, that it’s only fitting and appropriate for me as Mayor and for the community, to proclaim…

December 14, 2019 as “Domenic Viccari Day” in Ellwood City.

Thank you Domenic for setting an example of living life to the fullest. We are proud of everything you have accomplished on behalf of Ellwood City and for this we thank you sincerely from our hearts.

What festivities are planned for Dom Viccari Day 2021 this year? Will it be a formal event or just business casual? Has the parade route been set yet?
Sorry I missed the original one, Dom.
