First Local Meadery to Open in Ellwood City

Proclamation Presented to EC Girls Volleyball Team

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation to the Ellwood City girls volleyball team, remarking on the team’s outstanding accomplishments. The team finished with a 17-1 overall record earning a Class 2A, Section 1 championship and WPIAL Finals appearance. “Proud of this special group on an outstanding season!” said Mayor Court in a statement. “Congratulations girls!” The Wolverines were ousted by North Catholic 3-1 in the WPIAL Class 2A championship November 7 at Fox Chapel, suffering their lone defeat of the season. Council Approves Military Banners Project

Ellwood City Borough Council voted to authorize implementation of the Ellwood City Military Banners project. The project will be led by Gabrielle Gretch. Gretch, a Riverside graduate who plans to attend UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing in January, said she was inspired to take on this project during her internship. “I did my scholarship on Leslie Sabo Jr. for the Historical society and shortly after was driving with my mom in Butler and asked why we didn’t have these in Ellwood,” she said. “I hope this will achieve great things and one day many streets in Ellwood will be filled…


Ellwood City Borough Council to Meet Tonight: Agenda

Ellwood City Borough Council will host its regular meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in the borough building’s auditorium. Ellwood City Public Library Activities For Week of November 16

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. PLEASE NOTE, WE’RE OPEN! Ellwood City School District to Remain Virtual; Winter Sports to Begin

Students will not be returning to the school buildings for classes in the Ellwood City Area School District before November 30. During Thursday night’s board of directors meeting, Superintendent Dr. Wesley Shipley said he has been keeping a close eye on community spread. “The numbers I’ve been keeping based on data shows we have more cases this week than last,” he said. Upcoming Ellwood City Wrestling Season Announced

Interested in wrestling? The Ellwood City Varsity and Junior High Wrestling season is starting soon! The first practice will take place on Friday, November 20, 2020, scheduled to take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Lincoln High School Cafeteria. Practices will be Monday thru Friday with optional lifting sessions three times a week at 3:10 p.m. There are temperature checks before every practice/hand sanitizer and the mats cleaned to CDC standards. There are several tournaments the team is planning to attend this season including, Panther Holiday Classic (Varsity Only), Mid-Winter Mayhem (Varsity Only), and West Mifflin Christmas Tournament….


BC3’s 23-year-old College Within the HS Program Tops 500 Students For First Time

(Butler, PA) Butler County Community College’s College Within the High School program, which enables sophomores through seniors the opportunity to earn transferrable college credits, has exceeded 500 students in a semester for the first time, including two featured Lincoln High School students. In the fall 2020 semester, 507 students in Butler, Clarion, Clearfield, Jefferson, Lawrence and Mercer counties are taking at least one BC3 course in subjects ranging from anatomy and physiology to western civilization I.
