Ellwood City Public Library Sponsoring A Victorian Tea Event

The Ellwood City Public Library is sponsoring a Victorian Tea on Saturday, June 22nd at Calvin Presbyterian Church The event is scheduled to take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Items on the menu include assorted tea sandwiches, breads, savories, fruits, sweets and various teas. Hats are optional, but prizes will be awarded for the prettiest and the craziest hat. There are also door prizes a a Chinese Auction with many beautiful Gift Baskets. Tickets are $25.00 available at the Library and must be purchased ahead of time. Ellwood City Sports Physicals To Be Held On June 13th

According to information made available by the district, Ellwood City Sports Physicals for the 2024-25 school year will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the High School Nurse’s office. Any student in grades 7-12 that are interested must pre-register in the Principal’s office by Wednesday. Forms must be completed and payment must be made before an appointment time is given. Cost of the Physical is $20.00.  This is the only date that physicals will be offered by the school. Route 65 Culvert Replacement Begins Monday in North Sewickley

PennDOT has announced culvert replacement work requiring a long-term closure of a portion of Route 65 (Mercer Road) in North Sewickley Township, Beaver County will begin Monday, June 10 weather permitting. Culvert replacement work will begin at 8:00 a.m. Monday on Route 65 between Bologne Valley Road and Oakland Drive. DRIVING WITHOUT LICENSE: Trent Sirak, 21, of Ellwood City is charged with Driving without a license after an incident on May 21st. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers were patrolling and had noticed a green quad traveling at high speeds. Police followed with sirens and lights, but the operator fled. Police then spoke to Abigail Naher who related that Sirak had been operating a green quad recently. The North Side Primary school hosted a Lemonade Stand that was run by 2nd Grade Entrepreneurs last week. As part of the educational day, five different stations helped all students learned how to work for themselves. Students were able to practice and demonstrate soft skills such as communicating, collaborating, co-operation, being adaptable, time management and other interpersonal skills according to Debbie Weich, North Side Primary School counselor. Senate Approves Bill To Allow East Palestine Train Derailment Victims Keep More Money

HARRISBURG – The state Senate today approved legislation introduced by Sens. Doug Mastriano (R-33), Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47), and Michele Brooks (R-50) that would enable Pennsylvania victims of the Norfolk Southern train wreck near East Palestine, Ohio, last year to keep more of their own money. “This bill would enable the families and businesses harmed by the Norfolk Southern train wreck to keep more of the money from their relief payments and settlements,” said Mastriano, who serves as chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, hosted a hearing immediately following the train wreck, and subpoenaed Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw to appear before the committee. “Rather…
