Both local high school football teams picked up critical section victories Friday night as Ellwood City easily handled winless Union 41-6 while Riverside nudged past Beaver Falls 21-18. Renovation projects typically bring a little dust, a lot of work, and interesting discoveries among the layers. What started as a routine renovation of Ellwood City’s Lincoln High school, turned into a remarkable connection to the past. School Librarian Heidi Feltrop recounted the moment this quest to unveil a cornerstone to find a time capsule from 1925 began. She said in May a biology teacher was boxing up things in her classroom to accommodate the current construction at Lincoln High School and stumbled upon a dictionary that belonged to a teacher in 1930. Richard Hogue Replenishment Blood Drive Scheduled For November 8th

The annual Richard Hogue Memorial Blood Drive has been announced and scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Hogue was only 28 when his life was taken on November 16, 2013. At the time of his death, he resided in Enon Valley, worked for Nick Mars Construction as a carpenter, and was a member of the Ellwood City Eagles Club.
