2nd Annual Carter Huzinec Memorial Powerlifting Meet & Strongman Event Scheduled For June 6th

The 2nd Annual Carter Huzinec Memorial Powerlifting Meet & Strongman Event is scheduled to take place Saturday, June 6th.

The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the New Beaver Borough VFD, 898 Wampum New Galilee Road, in Wampum and is presented by Wampum Fitness and Carter4LifeCompany 501(c)(3). Competitors and spectators are welcome. Sign-up deadline is June 1st. Same Day Registration is assessed an additional $10 fee.

This year’s event features new push-up and pull-up challenges.

Proceeds of the event will benefit the Pittsburgh Brain Injury Awareness Association.

Carter, who tragically passed away at the age of 20 in June of 2020 after a traumatic brain injury, sustained in an ATV accident, is remembered not just for his strength in the gym, but for the kindness and dedication he showed to those around him. As mentioned by his mother Chrissi, Carter was known for being the fun, playful, kindhearted, helpful, hardworking friend to all and was always able to bring a smile to the faces of everyone he was around.

“It’s a bright spot in my world to see my son‘s legacy carried on with something he loved. Making good from the bad,” says Chrissi.

Carter attended “Vo-Tech” and the school changed his life according to his mother, leading him to a technical career that he loved. Carter graduated from Lawrence County Vo-Tech in 2018 and then was a laborer at Universal Refractories in Wampum.

Chrissi and Michael Huzinec have helped establish some scholarship opportunities for the students at the Lawrence County Career and Technical Institute.
