On Friday, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented to Judy Bokor of Spring Avenue, the Fourth 2016 Beautification Award and Gift Certificate. The Mayor was excited to present this to Judy, as once again, this was yet another first time recipients and they too were excited. DUI Motor Vehicle Assault A Beaver Falls man driving a motorcycle was seriously injured by a drunk driver in an incident on May 28. The victim, Michael D. Stevenson, was thrown 25 feet from his vehicle and transported to the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. He has since been released. According to criminal complaint filed on June 16, on May 28 at approximately 9:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Line Avenue and Mt. On Thursday, June 16, 2016 Mayor Anthony J. Court performed the swearing in ceremony of Ellwood City’s most recently hired full-time police officer, Patrolman Richard Kruger. Patrolman Kruger’s transition into a full-time police officer at the Ellwood City Police Department should be minimal considering his knowledge of the policies and procedures of the department, along with his good working relationship with the other officers, as he has worked part-time at the ECPD for the past year and a half. Many congratulations were extended to Patrolman Kruger as it is believed that he will be an asset to the Department.
ELLWOOD CITY, June 17 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, today said the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program deadline to apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2015 has been extended from June 30 to Dec. 31. Pennsylvanians 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and people with disabilities 18 or older qualify for the benefits under the program. The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters. Half of Social Security income and any COLAs are excluded.
