Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation To Meet Friday

The Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation (ECIAHF) will meet this Friday, May 27th at 10:00 a.m. Elwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation is a non-profit special community-based initiative involving Italian ethnic research and genealogy. The focus of the group is on sharing Ellwood City Area Italian Family heritage information. The emphasis is on just how the Italian immigrants and their families contributed to the growth of our Ellwood City Area according to ECIAHF member, Barbara Mastropietro. Walk-Off Seals Win For Serra Catholic Against Riverside

It came down to the last play, but Riverside was on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to top-seeded Serra Catholic on Monday in the WPIAL Class-2A semifinals at Plum High School. Rocky Bleier to Speak at The Moving Wall in Ellwood City

Former Pittsburgh Steeler star running back and Vietnam veteran, Robert Patrick “Rocky” Bleier, will be the featured speaker at the opening ceremony for The Moving Wall to be displayed in Ellwood City’s Ewing Park from August 18 to 22, 2022. The ceremony, scheduled for 6:30 P.M. on August 18 at the Folino Shelter, is open to the public. Visitation of the Wall will begin after the Ceremony. Lawrence County CTC Unveiling Replica Trolley On Tuesday

The Lawrence County Career and Technical Center (LCCTC) is unveiling a replica of the original 1908 Harmony Short Line Trolley on Tuesday, May 24th at 1:00 p.m. The festivities will include staff and students. The trolley replica, manufactured at LCCTC for the Ellwood City Area Historical Society, will then move to Ellwood City, to be used by the Historical Society. An original plan to find an original trolley and repair into roadworthy condition to be used in parades and special events failed in 2019 when it was found beyond repair which led to the collaboration effort between the Historical Society…

Panthers Hold Off Carmichaels To Advance, Wolverines Fall To Southmoreland

The Riverside Panthers held on Thursday afternoon, escaping late inning jams, to defeat Carmichaels 3-2 and advance to the WPIAL Class-2A semifinals. Alden Wetzel Earns WPIAL Gold, Seven Panthers Qualify For PIAA

Riverside Panther runner Alden Wetzel earned WPIAL gold Wednesday, finishing in 1st place in the 400m dash at the WPIAL Individual Championship meet at Slippery Rock University. The junior finished with a time of 49.94 to earn gold. Wetzel also placed 6th in the high jump with a mark of 5’9″. Wetzel joined six other Panther individuals, and two relay teams, whom qualified for the PIAA State Championships next weekend in Shippensburg. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

DRUG POSSESSION: Deven Brown, 23, of Ellwood City, is charged with Drug Possession after a sobriety checkpoint stop on April 29 on Lawrence Avenue. According to the report, at approximately 10:18 p.m. and while PA State Police were performing the check, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was procured from Brown who had driven into the checkpoint in a 2022 Toyota Tacoma. Borough Of Ellwood City Announces Vacancy

The Borough of Ellwood City has announced a vacancy exists on the Ellwood City Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission is one of the Borough’s authorities, boards and commissions composed of volunteer citizen appointees which perform vital functions within the Borough. Any Borough resident interested in serving on the Commission is asked to submit a letter of interest to the Borough Secretary at 525 Lawrence Avenue, Ellwood City.
