Calvin Presbyterian Church Hosting GriefShare Program

Calvin Presbyterian Church will once again host a 13-week GriefShare program this winter. No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. A GriefShare seminar/support group is being hosted and sponsored by Calvin Presbyterian Church. The program will be facilitated by Ginny Brest. The first session is scheduled for Sunday, February 9 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the church parlor. The group will meet each Sunday afternoon for 13 weeks, concluding on May 17. (We will not meet on Easter or Mother’s Day.) While participants are encouraged to complete the 13-week program if possible, attendance is not mandatory each…

United Fund Campaign Extended To End Of January

The Ellwood City United Fund board is appealing for help as the year 2019 is past and the goal for the 2020 campaign is short, $16,900. The board will extend the fundraising campaign until the end of the month. The board request that if you haven’t given and you can, please give today. There are many who depend upon us and other charities for the financing of programs that help the Ellwood City community and families. Acclaimed Local Artist and Author to Share Her Personal Journey at January’s Meeting

January’s guest speaker at the Ellwood City Area Historical Society’s monthly meeting on the 13th will be acclaimed local author and visual artist, Lynda McKinney Lambert. A retired Professor of Fine Arts at Geneva College, Lynda’s poetry and non-fiction essays have been published in a variety of literary journals, anthologies, and academic writings, as well as her personal accomplishments that are featured in several books. Lynda’s unique personal story involves her sudden and profound loss of sight in 2007 that she had to overcome through intensive rehabilitation. (Butler, PA) Butler County Community College will host the nation’s longest-running multicultural song and dance company when the Tamburitzans – “high-energy” university and technical school students spiraling in a “kaleidoscope of colors” to Old World and world music – return to Succop Theater on Jan. 17 and for the first time since selling out the 442-seat venue in 2018. Koppel Man Charged In Double Shooting

A Koppel man has been arrested in connection with a double shooting this week. According to a published report, 70-year old Rickey Neal was arrested on December 26 and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, six counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count of possessing a firearm when he was not permitted to own one. He was charged after being found in connection to a double shooting that happened on Wednesday in Big Beaver of Beaver County. Commissioners Add Radio Exec To BC3 Board Of Trustees

(Butler, PA) Vicki Hinterberger, president and general manager of Butler Radio Network, and members of her staff assisted on a recent December morning with delivering stockings to area cancer facilities as part of the Hang Tough Stocking program. Butler Radio Network is among Hang Tough Stocking program collaborators that helped in stuffing more than 2,000 stockings and serving as a collection site for items donated by area schools, churches, businesses and organizations and to be delivered to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy. House Approves Bernstine Legislation to Prevent Violent Offenders from Early Release

HARRISBURG – The House of Representatives today overwhelming passed legislation that would preclude the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole from paroling an inmate at the expiration of his or minimum sentence if the inmate was convicted of a violent offense or an obstruction of justice while incarcerated. House Bill 1855 or Markie’s Law, authored by Rep. Beaver County Man Admits Robbing PNC Bank in Cranberry Township

PITTSBURGH, PA – A resident of Patterson Township, (Beaver County) Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of bank robbery, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced on Wednesday. Michael Ryan Neppach, 40, pleaded guilty to one count before Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer. In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that, on August 28, 2019, Neppach had robbed the PNC Bank at 20940 Route 19 in Cranberry Township of approximately $1,400.
