United Fund Update: Short of Fundraising Goal

The Ellwood City United Fund is still short of its fundraising goal, says Andrew Kindle, treasurer of the United Fund. The United Fund campaign started on October 1, 2019, Kindle reports that as of November 15, 2019 the total contributions received are $16, 900.00 which equates to about 30 percent below the goal set for this time period. The annual goal set by the board in October is for $50,000. The board hopes that the community will step up to the plate by giving contributions so the communities needs may be met. LHS Students Participate In BC3 Entrepreneurship Challenge

Students at Lincoln High School in Ellwood City recently participated in Butler County Community College’s Entrepreneurship Challenge, which drew students from nine high schools in six counties to BC3’s main campus in Butler Township. Anthony Spadafore, Ashton Wilson, Katelyn Wehman and Bryn Gray, accompanied by teacher Cindie Friello pitched a business plan called Foundation of Advancements in Youth Academics – which would focus on progressing student education – in the Entrepreneurship Challenge that took place earlier this month. ‘Kolędy Night’ Scheduled

A first-ever ‘Kolędy Night’ is planned for Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Polish Falcons Club in New Castle. The evening will feature area musicians playing traditional Polish and American Christmas carol sing-a-longs. Lyrics in both Polish and English will be provided for those attending. Kolędy Night will take place at Polish Falcons 105 W. Miller Street New Castle, PA. The event is from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. and admission is only $5.00 (with children 16 and under FREE). Lincoln High School Students to Help Santa With Letters

ELLWOOD CITY, PA – Yes, there is a Santa Claus and we can help you prove it! Lincoln High Schools’ Spanish Club will again be helping Santa Claus with his heavy letter writing workload. Letters will be individually crafted by our onsite helper elves and delivered to your home before Christmas. Bernstine Announces Committee Passage of Bill to Prevent Violent Offenders from Early Release

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today commended the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin), for passing House Bill 1855 or Markie’s Law, which focuses on the parole process for violent offenders. LHS Graduate Botti Named PAC Rookie of the Week

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Westminster College freshman defensive back Luca Botti (Ellwood City, PA / Ellwood City) was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Rookie of the Week. The 6′ 2″ 170-pound redshirt freshman had a team-high seven tackles (7 solo) and a pair of pass breakups for Westminster in its 28-25 win over Geneva Saturday. It’s Time Fitness Announces New ‘Fit For Safety’ Program

Earlier this week, local gym and fitness center It’s Time Fitness announced a new ‘Fit For Safety’ program for all first responders in the Ellwood City area. The new, special membership program offers special rates to first responders. The 47th Annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, December 7th beginning at 1:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy a lineup featuring a steel line band, Toy Story characters, Muppets Christmas, Paw Patrol, superheroes, Rudolph, bands, dance groups, scout troops, floats, fire trucks, and horses!
