LHS Class of 1957 Offering Scholarship Opportunity To Seniors

Lincoln High School seniors who plan to continue their education can apply for a $5,000 scholarship and $500 essay award that will be given by the LHS Class of 1957. Applications are available at the school guidance office where they must be submitted by April 1, 2019. Names of winners will be revealed at the annual awards assembly in May. Bernstine Calls for More Transparency in Taxpayer-Funded Construction Projects

HARRISBURG – In an effort to promote transparency, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today introduced legislation to require full disclosure of contractual terms, known as project labor agreements (PLAs), on construction projects funded by taxpayer dollars. PLAs are comprehensive, pre-hire agreements which, under existing law, include labor terms and conditions for construction projects, often incorporating terms from collective bargaining agreements of unions to be involved in the project. “PLAs often increase the labor costs on a job, so it is problematic when we can’t see the full scope of the project up front,” Bernstine said. “When a contractor is crafting a…

Joint Sewer Authority Receives $37 Million In State Financing

The Rochester Area Joint Sewer Authority (JSA) was today (January 30) awarded $37 million in financing from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) for major upgrades to its system, according to Senator Elder Vogel (R-47). PENNVEST awarded a $33,976,271 low-interest loan and a $1,592,241 grant to the JSA for the modification of its existing sewage treatment plant, Center Street Pump Station, West Madison Pump Station, Freedom Pump Station and the addition of a new detention tank to eliminate wet weather overflows. PENNVEST also awarded a $1,431,488 low-interest loan to the JSA for the architectural and engineering costs of the project….

The Ellwood City Wolves Club will once again offer scholarships to graduating high school seniors residing in the Ellwood City Area School District and Riverside Beaver County School District who plan to attend a four-year college, community college, trade or technical school following graduation. Ellwood City United Fund Campaign Concludes End Of Month

The annual Ellwood City United Fund campaign drive will end on January 31.  However, it is still never too late to make your contribution. The board of directors wants to thank everyone that contributed to the annual fund. The total campaign contributions came up $ 18,000.00 below the goal of $50,000.00.
