1954 Lincoln Class “PICNIC ON THE PATIO” Committee Meeting Minutes

Pudue LaCava hosted the 1954 Lincoln Class, “PICNIC ON THE PATIO” committee at her Mt. Vernon Drive home on Thursday, April 04, 1:00 PM. The session began with pizzas and Ilene’s homemade pies, Rosina’s rice pie and Pudue’s refreshments. A business session followed conducted by Ilene Gardner. Clemmy Sirimarco presented the financial report. Lacava reviewed the flyer that was posted on facebook and will be mailed to class members. Wolverine Varsity Recaps: Baseball Victorious, Softball Falls

VARSITY BASEBALL DEFEATS NEW BRIGHTON Ellwood City Wolverines stole the lead late in the game in an 8-5 victory over New Brighton on Wednesday. The game was tied at five with Ellwood City Wolverines batting in the top of the sixth when Jeramie Hill induced Brady Welsh to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored. New Brighton scored three runs in the first inning, but Ellwood City Wolverines still managed to pull out the victory. Open House for the Child Advocacy Center

Mayor Anthony Court and Lt. David Kingston of the Ellwood City Police Department presented the Children’s Advocacy Center of Lawrence County, a Commendation at the LCCAC “Open House” held yesterday as part of their “Great Childhood Campaign” kickoff. On hand for a question and answer session were various advocates for LCCAC including a Trauma Therapist, Forensic Interviewer, and the Board Chair. The LCCAC sponsored the open house from 2p-6p yesterday. Relay For Life Event Leadership Meeting

Please join us for our next meeting of Ellwood City Relay For Life on Tuesday, April 9th at 6:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. We will be meeting at the Moose, 1400 Factory Avenue. Plans will continue for our 2019 Carnival For A Cure on Lawrence Avenue again, Saturday, May 18th from 3:00 to 9:00 pm. Victories For Both Ellwood Softball Teams On Tuesday

Varsity Softball Team Defeats Beaver Falls; Improves To 3-1 After spotting the Tigers a 2-0 lead on two singles and two errors in the top of the first, The Lady Wolverines would score the next 17 runs to win the three-inning mercy rule shortened game by a final of 17-2. Ellwood City would score 6 runs in the second inning, all with two outs, to take command.  Kyla Servick started the rally with a two-out single. Lawrence County’s Earth Day Scheduled for April 20

The annual Lawrence County Earth Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 20th at Ewing Park from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will be vendors, exhibits, food provided by INMETCO, musical entertainment, free horse and trolley rides. Wild World of Animals will be returning with exotic animals at noon and the 3rd Annual Trashion Show will be held at 11:00 a.m. First and second place winners of each category will receive cash prizes. Bernstine Announces ‘Coffee with Aaron’ Spring Town Hall Series

ELLWOOD CITY – Continuing his efforts to stay in touch with the people who hired him to be their voice in Harrisburg, state Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced dates for two “Coffee with Aaron” town hall-style meetings, which will take place at his Ellwood City office this spring. Pension Forfeiture Measure Sent to Governor

Legislation ensuring that public employees who commit job-related felonies are stripped of their taxpayer-funded pensions received final legislative approval in the Senate on March 20 and was sent to the Governor’s desk for enactment into law, according to Senator Elder Vogel. Currently, the Public Employee Pension Forfeiture Act requires pension forfeiture only for certain specific crimes. This allows public employees charged with a forfeiture crime to plead guilty to a different non-forfeiture crime in order to avoid losing their pension. Bernstine, PA Lawmakers Request Federal Regulatory Relief for PA Faith-Based Adoption Agencies

HARRISBURG – In an effort to ensure more foster children can find forever families, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) sent a letter last week to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) requesting relief from federal regulations he says are being unconstitutionally imposed on faith-based adoption and foster care agencies in Pennsylvania. The letter, which was sent to HHS Assistant Secretary of Administration for Children and Families Lynn Johnson, was co-signed by more than 35 members of the Pennsylvania Legislature. EC Varsity Softball Team Defeats Shenango; Improves to 2-1 on the Season

After a losing effort on Thursday against Ambridge, the Lady Wolverines got back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they beat Shenango 14-2 on the Wildcats home turf.  The game was much closer than the final score as the Wolverines held a slim 3-2 lead until the fifth inning. Leadoff batter Ariana Garroway got the scoring started in the first inning.  She walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third, and then scored on a dropped third strike as Anna Ferrucci was thrown out at first.  Shenango tied things up in the home half of the…
