Tenaris To Adjust Workforce At Its Facilities In PA & OH, Koppel Shop Not Affected

Houston, TX – Tenaris has announced it will be reducing its workforce at its facilities in Pennsylvania and Ohio due to an influx of imports of OCTG into the United States. Approximately 170 employees at the company’s facilities in these two states will be impacted by the layoffs. The steel shop in Koppel, Pennsylvania, is not affected. Imports of OCTG account for nearly half the U.S. market demand. These imports are mainly manufactured in China and shipped through countries such as Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan, and are being brought into the States and sold at less than fair market value….

Ellwood City Historical Society New Membership Drive

The Ellwood City Historical Society at its monthly board meeting, Andy Kindle, Ways and Means Chairman, suggested to the board that it hold a Membership Drive for new members. Kindle stated that the Ellwood City Chamber of commerce is planning over 20 activities this summer. Kindle said it is an opportunity for the Historical Society to promote a membership program. He also stated that starting now gives the society the rest of 2024 to promote membership to the community. Historical Society Selects Scholarship Recipients

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society is pleased to announce the winners of the Robert and Janice Barensfeld and the Marlene Painter scholarships. Eleven students from Lincoln and Riverside High Schools submitted essays for these grants. The scholarships are available to any high school senior living in the Ellwood City area regardless of the school they attend. Seven students wrote about “A Prominent Person of the Ellwood City Area” for the Barensfeld award, established in honor of long-time prominent Ellwood City citizens Robert and Janice Barensfeld. Butler County Community College’s nearly 150 summer session courses lasting four to 12 weeks will provide an opportunity for BC3 and guest students to complete required courses in preparation for the fall semester or to advance toward graduation, a BC3 administrator said. Over $6.3 Million in State Infrastructure Grants Announced For Beaver & Lawrence Counties

$600M Settlement Reached By Norfolk Southern Related To East Palestine Train Derailment

HARRISBURG – In the wake of the recent $600 million settlement reached by Norfolk Southern in its class-action lawsuit related to its train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, last year, state Sens. Vogel Announces Over $20 Million Awarded in Beaver & Butler Counties To Improve Access to High-Speed Internet

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) announced today that Comcast Cable Communications, LLC (Beaver County) is being awarded over $4.2 million and Armstrong Telecommunications, Inc. (Butler County) is being awarded over $16.6 million to increase access to reliable, high-speed internet, according to Sen.
