Ellwood City Historical Society – September Update

The Ellwood City Historical Society met this past Monday to plan its programs for the remainder of the year. The first meeting was a dinner program called “A Nite at the Races,” presented by the McElwain brothers (Floyd, Frank, and Kevin.) October’s program will be presented by Everett Bleakney, Jr. titled “Whatʼs up Doc.” Doors open at 7:00 p.m. The board received the final report on the Annual Fund Drive that we had received a total of $ 8500.00. “A big thank you to the community for the very generous support,” says Andy Kindle. Man Arrested For Killing A Woman, Injuring 4 Others In Driveby Shooting

According to a public information news release, on September 7th at approximately 1:57 a.m., PA State Police investigated a homicide that occurred at Breaker’s Pub, located on Portersville Road, Ellport Borough, Lawrence County. According to the report, Nathan Fink arrived at the pub and was involved in a physical altercation with bar patron. After the altercation Fink was escorted to leave the premises and left operating a white GMC Sierra. TRAVEL ADVISORY: PA Turnpike Ramp Closures Scheduled at Beaver Valley Exit 13 Interchange

HOMEWOOD – The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) advises motorists that westbound on and off-ramps will be closed at the Beaver Valley Interchange (Exit 13) beginning Sunday, September 8th at 6 p.m. until Friday September 13th at 6:00 a.m. This closure allows crews working on the Beaver Valley Bridge Replacement Project to safely tie-in temporary ramps to allow for the construction of the final ramp configuration for the new interchange at PA Route 18 (Big Beaver Boulevard). OCTG Imports Continue To Impact Operations At Tenaris

OCTG (oil country tubular goods) imports continue to impact operations at Tenaris and its operations in Pennsylvania and Ohio. This according to Tenaris US President Luca Zanotti on the matter. Last month, three U.S. senators urged the Biden administration on to reduce the import quota on oil and gas drilling pipes from South Korea, saying it has affected companies with operations in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Vogel Announces September Food Drive During Hunger Action Month

HARRISBURG – Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) will be holding a food drive throughout September in honor of Hunger Action Month in Pennsylvania and across the nation. BC3 To Replace Tech Devices With $300K Grant

Butler County Community College has received a $300,000 grant from the state Department of Education that will fund the replacement of approximately 300 electronic devices that allow for network connectivity among BC3’s main campus and its additional locations in Armstrong, Butler, Jefferson, Lawrence and Mercer counties. The 95 switches and routers and nearly 200 wireless access points are nearing the end of their lifespan and will no longer be supported by the manufacturers, according to James Hrabosky, BC3’s vice president for administration and finance.
