Keller Crowned Champion Of 64th Annual Delmar Golf Course Club Championship

The 64th Annual Delmar Golf Course Club Championship was held August 10th and August 11th, 2024. This season’s championship field was comprised of 62 members of Delmar Golf Course. Ellwood City golf team junior and co-captain, Jordan Keller outlasted the field to be crowned the champion golfer of the year with a two stroke play total of 141 (-3). Keller’s even par 72 Sunday was good enough to hold off Zach Buben’s closing 69, as well as Michael Pope who both finished the event at 145. Lincoln High School Class of 1964 Reunion Nearing

The 60th class reunion of the LHS Class of 1964 is getting closer. The reunion will start at 5:00 p.m. at the Connoquenessing Country Club on August 24, 2024. It will be a great time to catch up with “OLD” friends and maybe make some new ones. Although a ‘sit down’ dinner is not planned, there will be plenty of food to enjoy. There will also be a cash bar. Ellwood City Historical Society – August Update

At the August meeting of Ellwood City Historical Society, the board reviewed the Ways and Means committee reports. The Annual Fund Drive started June 15, 2024 and will end on August 15, 2024. Andy Kindle chairman of the committee stated that the society has received 70% of the $10,000.00 goal. The Society still needs the communities help to raise the needed $3,000.00. PHOTOS: PA Turnpike Beaver River Project Continues Into Its Next Stage

People in the area will see some piers and beams are in place as the project continues into its next stage. The project is currently in stage four of the eight project stages. Turnpike travel lanes have been shifted southward to accommodate construction activities for the new bridge and roadway alignment. The contractor has completed some of the piers for the new westbound Beaver River bridge crossing. New bridge construction over Big Beaver Boulevard (PA Route 18) at the Beaver Valley interchange continues with precast concrete beams recently having been set on the superstructure and bridge deck construction will follow…

Free Basketball Camp Draws 42 Participants

The free co-ed basketball camp at Ewing Park for 6 to 12-year-olds was held Monday, July 29th through Friday, Aug. 2nd from 10 a.m. to Noon. Forty-two campers were taught ball handling, dribbling, passing, defense, foul shot and layup shooting form and some rules of the game. The camp concluded Friday with games of knock out, horse, a shooting competition and games of five versus five. They were also treated to a pizza party. Wampum Resident Indicted for Producing and Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material

PITTSBURGH – A resident of Wampum, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of Production of Material Depicting the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and Possession of Material Depicting the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced today. The three-count Indictment named Thomas Hyatt-Baney, 21, formerly of Wampum, Pennsylvania, as the sole defendant. According to the Indictment, Hyatt-Baney, on or about May 28, 2023, and June 25, 2023, produced visual depictions of the sexual exploitation of a minor. Borough of Ellwood City Utility Office Updating Payment System

The Borough of Ellwood City utility office will be getting a new system starting July 31st, 2024, with an estimated end date of August 7th, 2024 according to information made available by the borough. During the transition only checks and money orders will be accepted. The office will still be open normal business hours during the transition. As always, the drop box outback will be available. Payments received within the transition period will be deposited once the system has completed the update on August 7th, 2024. With this new system comes changes. Ellwood City Rallies To Defeat Shenango In Its Little League Tournament Opening Game

Ellwood City rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Shenango, 5-2, in the 73rd Ellwood City Little League Tournament on Tuesday night. Ben Sukits smacked the key hit of the game with a three-run triple which erased a 2-1 deficit. Joey Zito and Luca Smith combined for a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts to lead Ellwood City on the mound. FREE Co-Ed Basketball Camp To Be Offered At Ewing Park Courts

A free, five-day co-ed basketball camp is scheduled to begin at the Ewing Park Basketball Courts from Monday, July 29th thru Friday, August 2nd. Coaches Al Campman, Bob Rac, Herm Petti and Joe Fisher will host the camp that will run from 10 a.m. till noon during the week. Any boy or girl ages 7–11 are welcome to participate. The cost is FREE – just bring your own basketball and drinks. Coaching includes: ball handling, passing, dribbling, defense, shooting and games. Pastor Dave grew up in rural Somerset County and graduated from North Star High School in Boswell. He is one of 8 children.
