“Fools! A Comic Fable”

Portersville Christian School presents Neil Simon’s “Fools! A Comic Fable” directed by Ryan Wise. The synopsis of the play: Sometime in the 19th century, in the small Ukrainian village of Kulyenchikov, we meet Leon Tolchinsky- a freshly minted young school teacher who has come to Kulyenchikov to teach the daughter of the local doctor. What Tolchinsky does not know is that this village has been under a curse for the past 200 years, and as a result, every person in Kulyenchikov is stupid. Drug Disposal Event

Riverside Qualified for Soccer Playoffs

The Riverside Girls and Boys Soccer Teams qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs.  Furthermore, this is the first time in school history the girls soccer team has advanced to the playoffs. The girls will open the playoffs this Monday, October 24, 2016 against Seton LaSalle at Moon High School at 6PM. The bus will leave at 3:45PM The boys team begins the playoffs on Saturday, October 22, 2016 against Obama Academy at Cupples Stadium at 2PM. The bus will leave at 11:30AM. Also, Skyler Fox qualified for the PIAA Individual Golf FINALS in Hershey.


Orthodox Study Group at St. Elias Church to Start October 22

St. Elias Orthodox Church will be holding a weekly Orthodox Spirituality Study Group every Saturday at 5 pm, starting October 22. Discussions will be based on the book The Mountain of Silence: A Search for Orthodox Spirituality by Kyriacos Markides. In this book, the author presents conversations, reflections, and personal dialogue, plus history and travel information that explore the Orthodox spiritual tradition. Copies of the book will be available at the first session. An informal pot-luck soup supper will be served during the sessions, followed by Vespers at 7 pm in the church. All are welcome! Lincoln Class of 1954 September Meeting

Pudue LaCava hosted the Lincoln Class of 1954, “Nite at the Movies” committee at her Mt. Vernon Drive home at 4p.m., Thursday, September 22. The full committee includes Paul Abraham, James Spielvogel, James Gillespie, John and Patty Tino, Ann Amadio, Rose and Dom Massaro, Jan Keenan, Arlene “Pinky” Maielli, Ilene Gardner, Clemmy Sirimarch and Pudue LaCava. The session began with lunch provided by the committee members and served by Gardner and the arm-casted LaCava, who was involved in an automobile accident and all expressed a speedy recovery for her. Local Housing Improvements Receive Boost from Shale Impact Fee

The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) recently awarded $75,000 in grants for housing improvement efforts in Beaver and Lawrence counties, according to Senator Elder Vogel. A grant of $25,000 was awarded for Beaver County’s Rental and Utility Assistance Program and $50,000 was awarded to the Lawrence County Housing Rehabilitation and Blight Removal Program. The grants are funded by Act 13 of 2012, the Marcellus Shale impact fee legislation, which allocates certain amounts from the impact fee into PHFA’s Housing Trust Fund (PHARE) to address the need for affordable housing in counties where producing nonconventional gas wells are located. “The PHARE…


Under the Sea Extravaganza

The cast of the upcoming Lincoln High School’s The Little Mermaid will be presenting an Under the Sea Extravaganza on 10/22/16 from 2-5p.m. at the high school cafeteria. The Under the Sea Extravaganza is designed specifically to raise money for the production of The Little Mermaid musical. A musical is produced annually in the fall by the music dept staff at Lincoln High School -the school district does not provide funds for the musical production so all the fundraising is all done by the cast.
