Riverside was victorious over Ellwood City in both the girls and boys track competition Monday evening. “The teams competed well, but we are missing the depth to compete with a strong team such as Riverside. Doyle Kent Butler, 67

Doyle Kent Butler, 67, of Ellwood City passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the VNA Hospice in Butler. Doyle was born on January 20, 1950 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Doyle E. and Doris Taylor Butler. He is a member of the Riverside High School class of 1968, and was certified as a diesel mechanic by the Diesel Mechanic School in New Castle. He enlisted with the U.S. Army on September 26, 1969 and served until his discharge on March 24, 1972.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.  Doyle worked at the Babcock & Wilcox…

Ellwood City Adult Basketball League Recap April 23

With the Ellwood City Adult Basketball League’s regular season winding down, quite a bit was on the line Sunday at the Family Center. To start, the highly coveted first round playoff bye was still up for grabs. Turncoats, owners of first place, looked to continue their residency of the top seed.   Ellwood City Wolverines Jumps Out to Early Lead in Victory Over Mohawk Area An early lead helped Ellwood City Wolverines defeat Mohawk Area 10-3 on Thursday. Ellwood City Wolverines scored on a double by Max Keally, a double by Rick Pitrelli, a single by Shane Sedgwick, and a double by Noah Rinker in the first inning. State Low-Interest Loan to Help North Sewickley Township Fire Department Purchase Truck, Says Bernstine

BEAVER FALLS – State Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-New Beaver) announced today that Pennsylvania’s Volunteer Loan Assistance Program has approved a $200,000 low-interest loan for the North Sewickley Township Volunteer Fire Department. The company will use the 2 percent loan toward the purchase of a 2015 rescue pumper. “When there is an emergency in our homes or communities, we call 911 and expect our volunteers to quickly respond in up-to-date equipment and take care of the problem,” said Bernstine. “But, how often do we think about the huge financial burden all that equipment places on them?
