BC3 To Highlight Programs, Careers For Future Educators

(Butler, PA) Madison Roth knew she wanted to become an educator at age 10 when she “literally played school all the time,” toting a portable chalkboard and a rubber-tipped wooden pointer to lessons attended by friends and relatives in classrooms imagined in her bedroom in Cabot or in her cousins’ basement in Butler. “Anywhere,” she said, laughing, “that people would play with me.” Dan Parson, of Portersville, knew he wanted to become an educator at age 17, on a 95-degree July day “sweating and being cut” by jaggers at a job site near New Castle with his father’s tree removal…

June 30 Dubbed Eric Rayner Day

On June 28, 2019, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation to Eric Rayner, declaring that June 30, 2019, as Eric Rayner Day in Ellwood City. Eric was the leader in saving the fireworks display for the Ellwood City Festival, raising $11,000 for the fireworks show. Ellwood City is proud of a great job done by Eric and grateful for all who donated to keep this tradition alive. I believe everyone, in and around the Ellwood City area, enjoyed the fireworks immensely.

Grove City College, Bc3 Team Up To Offer Four-year Nursing Degree

(Grove City, PA) Grove City College and Butler County Community College are partnering to create a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program that offers students the best that both higher education institutions have to offer. Senator Vogel Lauds Budget Commitment to Agriculture

The Senate today (June 27) approved a budget for Fiscal Year 2019-20 that reaffirms Pennsylvania’s strong commitment to farming families, according to Senator Elder Vogel (R-47), Chairman of the Senate Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee. Video House Bill 790 also includes no tax increases, provides funding for essential services, promotes workforce development efforts, bolsters education spending at all levels and makes a substantial investment in the state Rainy Day Fund. Bernstine: House Advances Bipartisan School-to-Work Bill

HARRISBURG –The House of Representatives this week advanced legislation which would allow high school students to obtain real-world work experience while still in school. The bipartisan bill to prepare Pennsylvania’s youth for the 21st-century workforce was authored by state Reps. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence), Kate Klunk (R-York) and Jared Solomon (D-Philadelphia). New $90K Tool To Bolster BC3’s Distinctive Metrology Program

(Butler, PA) A state-of-the-art $90,000 FARO measurement tool gifted to Butler County Community College will enhance a distinctive and nationally known metrology program whose graduates have the highest potential starting salaries among the college’s occupational associate degree selections in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, a BC3 administrator said. Ellwood City History Center Open During Festival

The History Center will be open during the festival this year. Andrew Kindle, 1st Vice President of the Historical Society announced that the History Center will be open for visitors.
