Schedule of Events: Pie Festival

The Annual Pie Festival hosted by the Lincoln Blue Band will be held on Thursday, Aug. 24 at Helling Stadium. The gates will open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. This is a special event to kick off the Blue Band’s fall entertainment. Partial Solar Eclipse Will Be Visible in Ellwood City

The highly anticipated solar eclipse across the nation from the west coast to the east coast of America is happening today, which will be visible at different times throughout regions of the nation. While Ellwood City is not in the “direct path” of the eclipse, according to TimeandDate.com, Ellwoodians will be able to see a partial eclipse starting at 1:09p.m., the peak of the eclipse will be at 2:34p.m. and the end at 3:54p.m. for a total duration of 2 hours and 44 minutes. Helling Stadium Fallen Pole Causes Severe Damage

Proceeding a storm with 60mph winds Friday evening, during a delayed football game at Helling Stadium a light pole at the stadium fell, struck two people, and damaged areas of the field and a Noga Ambulance. According to recent reports, 13-year-old Jaidyn Le’Viere, a junior cheerleading coach entering eight grade at Lincoln Junior-Senior High School, sustained injuries including lacerations in her back and a broken hip. Father Charged with Child Endangerment After Incident Involving Marijuana

A 21-year-old father is facing charges of endangering the welfare of children, along with a charge of a DUI, possession of controlled substance and possession of an offensive weapon after an incident that occurred on July 22. According to the criminal complaint, an Ellwood City police officer was patrolling the Ewing Park area after it was closed for the night, noticing a vehicle traveling towards the back of the park near the gates that were already secured. Ellwood Woman Hired to Help Around House Suspected of Stealing Medication

Adriana Michelle Contreras, 33, of Ellwood City is facing charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after an incident on July 20. According to the criminal complaint, an Ellwood City resident called to report a suspected theft. The victim stated his wife had a condition for which they had personally hired a Contreras to help around the house. The victim stated he suspected Contreras was stealing pills from his Adderall prescription and that since the prior week he had noticed several of the pills missing. Rosalindo Morales Jr., a 23-year-old Ellwood City native, reigned champion in his first professional boxing match on Saturday, August 12 at the Rivers Casino, against opponent Adam Young of Memphis, Tennessee. Ellwood Resident Facing Charges for Growing Marijuana Plants in Backyard

Kylee Nikole Hooks, 28, of Franklin Avenue, is facing a felony charge of delivery of a controlled substance and misdemeanor charge of violation of controlled substance after police found marijuana plants growing in her backyard. According to the criminal complaint, on June 26, police were given an anonymous tip of suspected marijuana plants growing in the back yard of Hooks’s residence. Portion of Bell Ave. Closed for Demolition

Work on the area of the buildings scheduled to be razed, 509-515 Lawrence Avenue extending back to Bell Avenue, commences today and will affect traffic on Bell Avenue. The portion of Bell Avenue, past the municipal building, is closed for the first day of work on the buildings. To start, the contracted company, Continental Demolition, will be gutting the buildings and placing the interior debris in trash containers along Bell Avenue. The trash containers are expected to be emptied on an almost-daily basis.
