Ms. Marsha A. Barkay, 63, of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Honor Health Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Marsha was born on October 22, 1953 in Ellwood City to the late William and Roberta A. Straley Barkay. She is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1971. She also graduated from Thiel College with a degree in Business and Biology and from Slippery Rock University with a masters degree in Nuclear Medicine. She had worked at the former St. Frances Hospital in New Castle and then at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown and Boardman…


Ellwood City Art Club Event: Paint Two Tigers

The Ellwood City Art Club is hosting a paint class on October 28 from 10a.m.-1p.m. The theme is tigers and goers will have the option to paint two on 2 12×12 canvases. More information is on the flyer below. Proceeds benefit the Art Club.

Thanks to the courtesy of the Ellwood City Historical Society, they have provided us with a box full of old photos that we will now be using for Old Photo Friday! Today’s feature is the 95ft cake served on Lawrence Avenue in 1987 for the town’s 95th birthday celebration. Ellwood City Fall Fest: 6,000 People Expected to Attend

If you thought last year’s Fall Fest was crowded, this year is expected to be even more populous according to Borough Manager, Bob Villella. “This year there is expected to be at least 600 vehicles at the car cruise and upwards of 6,000 in attendance. That’s an increase of nearly 2,500 people since last year,” Villella stated. Criminal Complaints: 16 Pounds of Marijuana Seized in Little Beaver Township

16 Pounds of Marijuana Seized in Little Beaver Township According to the criminal complaint, Kevin Walter Davenport, 25, of Redford Township, Michigan, will be facing a felony and misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana with intent to sell after a traffic stop on September 19. An officer conducted a traffic stop with Davenport’s vehicle around 9a.m. near Little Beaver Township for a turn signal violation. During the stop the officer noticed indicators consistent with criminal activity and asked for permission to search the vehicle. A search revealed 18 vacuum sealed packages containing suspected marijuana, which were packaged for wholesale distribution….
