Photos: Annual EllwoodCity.org Golf Outing A Success!

EllwoodCity.org held its eighth annual golf scramble and cookout on Saturday, May 30 at the Beaver Valley Golf Club. The event, sponsored by over 20 local businesses, included 15 participating foursomes. Furthermore, 26 other businesses donated door and hole prizes for the participants, including a brand new Chevy Malibu for a hole-in-one shot on the Par 3 18th Hole. The morning shotgun start for the outing begin under clear and sunny skies and the scramble portion of the event just beat the thunderstorms that rumbled through in the afternoon. A total of 115 Lincoln High School seniors will receive diplomas today during commencement exercises in the high school auditorium. The program will begin at 7 p.m. The high honor graduates for the Class of 2015 were Abigail Beverly Dorer, Lexus Rae Garvin, Patrick Liam Gilkey, Payton Hill Kegel, Autumn Renee Kuzmin, Amber Rae Leech, Derek Robert Lust, Bailey Ann McKinney, Olivia Justine Pigza, Lauren Ashley Stiles and Marina Taxiarhia Thetford. Honor graduates are Celia Marie DiCarlo, Samuel Arik Metcalfe, Morgan Paige Meyers, Tyler Jay Neyman, RaeAnna Louise Orock, Maggie Jane Prokovich and Anneleise Williams.

The Ellwood City After Prom Party was held on Friday evening at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Center. The After Prom was formed in 1948 by fraternal, veterans and civic organizations of Ellwood City. Lincoln High School students arrived at the Catholic Center following their prom in Butler. The students were entertained throughout the evening with a DJ, photobooth, hypnotist, caricature artist and magic close-up with Dr. Brad Brown. On Monday evening, the Ellwood City and Riverside softball teams met at Riverside High School for the rivalry showdown. The close game ended with the Lady Wolverines pulling ahead of the Lady Panthers and winning 3-1. It was Ellwood’s first real fight of the season, as the combined score for their first four games is 35-2. Both teams had gone about a week without a game due to weather. Riverside High School Theater will present Anything Goes, a musical comedy by Cole Porter, this weekend from March 12 to 15. The musical features memorable songs such as “Anything Goes,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” and a cast favorite, “Blow, Gabriel, Blow.” “Anything Goes,” written and first performed in 1934, takes place on the S.S. American and features a cast of 70 students from grades 4 through 12.
