Stars and Stripes Dance

The Ellwood Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Stars and Stripes Dance on July 22 for the public to enjoy. The Dante DiThomas Band plays swing music, dress is casual and military personnel are encouraged to wear their military ensemble. Ellwood City Man Facing Felony Charge for Injury-Causing Hit and Run

According to the criminal complaint, Michael Ray Magill Jr., 38, of Eidenmiller Lane, has been charged by state police as a result of causing serious bodily injury during a crash and fleeing the scene. On June 2, an officer was dispatched to the area near 2590 Chewton Wurtemburg Road for a report of a two vehicle crash, in addition the officer was advised that multiple subjects fled from the scene. Community Members Encouraged to Partake in Ellwood City Clean Up Day

On Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 11a.m. – 2p.m., Mayor Anthony J. Court in conjunction with the Jeff Potter Baseball Tour will have an Ellwood City Clean Up Day.  This is a “Community Wide” event and everyone is invited to participate. Those participating will meet at the Ewing Park Pool Parking Lot prior to 11:00 am. After the clean-up, those participating will be at 1:45 p.m. at the Lions Club Shelter, inside Ewing Park. Vests, gloves and bags will be available for the clean-up and drinks and a lite snack will be provided by McDonalds, Johnny’s and Red Hot.


Ellwood City Public Library Activities for Week of July 10th

Activities at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, July 10, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. The annual Ellwood City Arts, Crafts & Food Festival took place this past weekend and those exhibiting and attending enjoyed beautiful weather and included a wide variety of activities, performances and vendors for everyone in the Ellwood City community to enjoy! In the annual 10k race, which took place Saturday morning, Ellwoodian Doug Petrik was victorious yet again. The Festival Committee is all volunteer and the Committee is a non-profit organization, solely in existence as the driving force to make the Festival happen! Hira Founder Gives Insight to Plans for Former YDC

While the state attorney general has approved the sale of the property to Hira Educational Services of North America, Asif Kunwar, the founder of the Islamic-based company, has finally shed some light on the plans for the former Youth Development Center in New Castle. Following a press release issued by Kunwar, who apologized for the delay and stated that the business has taken the past month off for Ramadan, many unanswered questions have finally been answered. Register for the Children’s Art Camp

Day Springs is now accepting registration for their children’s art camp. The program will be working with ages 7-9 and held on Monday, July 24 to Thursday July 27 from 10a.m. to 11:45a.m. Each day the children will see a short video of artist who highly impacted art as we know it, followed by projects done with graphite, pastel, crayon and colored pencil. Community Carnival to Benefit Brooke Moffat

The Ellwood City Providence Baptist Church will be hosting their 9th annual community carnival to benefit the Moffatt family after their 10 year old daughter Brooke was diagnosed in July 2016 with ALL – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Ellwood City Man Facing Attempted Homicide Charge According to the criminal complaint, on June 17, 2017 officers arrived to a residence on Portersville Road for a report of a domestic dispute. The victim advised that her fiancee, whom she lives with, Raemond Albert Wright, 34, of Ellwood City, had assaulted her during a verbal argument. She said that Wright had grabbed her and threw her around the kitchen then threw her down and started choking her to the point of losing consciousness.
