Local Radio Station Open House

WXED 107.3FM will host an open house on May 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. on the second floor of Dayspring Harvest Ministries on 316 Sixth St. meet the staff record a free “shout out” watch a live on-air DJ watch someone interviewed on air learn how to be involved with the community radio station There will be refreshments, live entertainment, a question and answer session and a tour of the facilities.


National Day of Prayer to Be Observed Today in Ellwood

“Wake Up America” is the theme of the annual Ellwood City National Day of Prayer observance at noon today in the Community Plaza on Lawrence Avenue. Maura Agostinelli’s line shot off of the fence in left center field plated Taylor Covert as the Lady Wolverines won in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the seventh inning. In a classic pitcher’s duel that saw both teams combine for just five hits, the Wolverines were able to come through with a 5-4 victory. Police: Assault and Damage to a Car, Attempted Burglary, and Hitting Utility Poles

Man Assaults Man and Damages Car According to the criminal complaint, Richard C. Myers, 39, of Ellport, assaulted a man and damaged his car during an accident on April 15 at approximately 4:30 p.m. The victim testified that he had driven to a residence in Ellport to drop his son’s bicycle off. Myers, the victim’s ex-wife’s boyfriend, subsequently punched him through the open window of the driver’s seat, knocking his glasses off. The victim exited the car to retrieve his glasses and was further assaulted by Myers, causing damage to the vehicle. The victim left the scene and informed police….


Ellwood City Prom 2016 Announces Court for “A Night at Gatsby’s”

The Ellwood City School district has announced the prom court for 2016. This year’s prom will be held on Friday, May 6 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in New Castle. This year’s theme is “A Night at Gatsby’s.” This year’s prom queen court is Emily Brown, Alena Costulas, Nikol Damato, Jodi Iddings, Karington Ketterer, Victoria Ketterer, Molly Morales and Sydney Shurtz. The king court is Justin Baney, Ryan Buzard, Brian Hudson, Keanu Jefferson, Brady Krosior, Carter MacMurdo, Vinny Romanio and Ricky Roth. Ellwood Boys Tennis Team Win Boosts to .500 Record

The Lincoln High School Boy’s Tennis team improved their record to .500 in section play for the first time in recent memory, at 4-4, with a 5-0 win over Ambridge in their final section match of the season. The first doubles team of Senior Corey Hobbs and Sophomore Shane Reisinger remained undefeated in section play. Christian Mittica improved his section record to 6-2. There were several hard fought matches that stretched over three sets and could have gone either way, but the Ellwood boys held on to win. The Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation celebrated opening day of the summer baseball season on Saturday with a parade and festivities in Ewing Park. Events included a home run derby, dunk tank, carnival games, inflatables, prizes and trophies, a 50/50 raffles, a Chinese auction, and more.
