Criminal Complaints: 16 Pounds of Marijuana Seized in Little Beaver Township

16 Pounds of Marijuana Seized in Little Beaver Township According to the criminal complaint, Kevin Walter Davenport, 25, of Redford Township, Michigan, will be facing a felony and misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana with intent to sell after a traffic stop on September 19. An officer conducted a traffic stop with Davenport’s vehicle around 9a.m. near Little Beaver Township for a turn signal violation. During the stop the officer noticed indicators consistent with criminal activity and asked for permission to search the vehicle. A search revealed 18 vacuum sealed packages containing suspected marijuana, which were packaged for wholesale distribution….

Defense has always been a strong suit for the Quips of Aliquippa as once again it is in the 2017 campaign. First Fall Foliage Report

Pennsylvania is known for its extremely beautiful landscape especially in the fall. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources  posted the first fall foliage report of the 2017 year, highlighting different regions throughout the state. The chart shows the expected peak time trees will be turning into their typical fall colors. It appears as though Lawrence and surrounding counties will peak between October 8-14. As of right now, trees are estimated to be about 5-10% turned. Check out the full report here.  


REMINDER: Wing Bash Benefit Scheduled Saturday

A wing bash is being held at the Sons of Italy this weekend to benefit Anthony Tollari III, to pay for some expenses after an incident that left him paralyzed. In July, Tollari had a diving accident in his swimming pool which shattered his C5 vertebrae. He has had surgery and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the hospital. He recently got his neck brace taken off and is continuing to making slow progress. The benefit has been organized to help his family with expenses related to getting Anthony home. PHOTOS: Alex’s Lemonade Stand Competition

Last Friday, a teacher from Ellwood City and Beaver Falls squared against each other in a football-tossing challenge, called Alex’s Lemonade Stand, to raise awareness and money for childhood cancer. The fundraising idea came from Cara Atkinson, leader of the Hope Club at Ellwood City, who said the outcome was definitely worth it and that she hopes to do it again next year. Ellwood won raising $982 and Beaver Falls raised $502. $300 was raised at the game and Ellwood continued their fundraising all this week to hopefully reach a final goal of $2,000. Line Ave. Resident Facing Child Porn Charges, Freed on Surety Bond

A Line Ave. resident is facing 22 counts of child pornography charges following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to New Castle News, Robert Lee Rogers, 48, of 632 Line Avenue, Ellwood City, was investigated after allegedly downloading images of juvenile girls on his computer. The FBI alerted the district attorney’s office of their findings, prompting a search of Rogers’ laptop computer. Agents discovered additional child pornography images that did not meet parameters established for FBI prosecution and the prosecution was turned over to the local agency.
