SPOILER ALERT: House Tour Home Features Christmas Village Above Kitchen Cabinets

Decorated and ready for this weekend’s Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s House Tour is the DeSanzo house, located at 417 Hazel Ave. The home features several Christmas trees, mangers, and a Christmas village set up above the cabinets – to name just a few iconic decorations! Homeowner, Joseph DeSanzo said it takes on average 10 hours to decorate the home with the majority of time taken up by the Christmas village set up. A gallery of the decorations is posted below. VIDEO: Elementary Student Narrates Weekend Events in School Newscast

“Attention all students – we have one really cool thing to report this week that has something to do with this weekend,” Giovanna, an Ellwood City elementary school student, stated during the Perry-Hartman school news production centered around the Let There Be Lights weekend. She then furthers on, professionally narrating the events to take place this weekend while clips of past year’s events play. SPOILER ALERT: House Tour Event Features Local Church

The Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s House Tour features something a little different this year – a church! Trinity Lutheran Church will be part of the tour, and it is truly a magical sight to say the least. From the aw-inspiring stained glass windows to the realistic decorative organ pipes, the Christmas decor adds an appropriate accenting holiday atmosphere. Criminal Complaints: Ellwood City Man Facing Felony Theft Charges

Ellwood City Man Facing Felony Theft Charges James Allen Sawyers, 26, of Ellwood City, is facing one felony count of theft by unlawful taking and one felony count of receiving stolen property after stealing a jewelry box full of miscellaneous jewelry from a local household. According to the complaint, the resident of the household was unwell for several months and had to have caregivers in and out of the residence often. The homeowner had noticed the jewelry box missing after one of the caregivers had brought their son, who would sometimes cut the grass of the property until his services…

New Year’s Eve Bingo

Holy Redeemer is hosting their New Year’s Eve Bingo on December 31, 2017 at the Catholic Center located at 311 Lawrence Avenue. Doors open at 5p.m. and the cost is $25.00 in advance of $30.00 the day of at the door. $1000.00 coverall with 70+ players – cookie jars and two winner-take-all games! Dinner is included with festivities from 5p.m. until the first break. Tickets can be purchased at regular bingo and the church office.

One of the Ellwood City Municipal Women House Tour homes, the Leavens household, located at 405 Pershing St., in Ellwood City, is the second home on the list to be decorated for the event. A common theme throughout the household is music; from music note ornaments to dancing Christmas characters, Lynn Leavens said that her late father is the inspiration to having musically themed decorations. “My father loved music, he used to play instruments and he’s been the inspiration for the musically themed decor. PHOTOS: Ten Adorn 30-Foot Christmas Tree with 5,000 Lights, 300 Ornaments

Members of the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce and others on Friday adorned a 30-foot blue spruce Christmas tree in the Community Plaza with 5,000 lights and 300 ornaments in preparation for Ellwood City’s “Let There Be Lights Weekend.” Raymond Santillo, the chamber’s executive director; Caroline Golmic, chamber president; and Jillian Court, chamber executive assistant; worked to decorate the tree donated by INMETCO, as did Ron Freehauf, of Ohioville; Russell Barge, of Wampum; Anthony Mazzant, of New Castle; Ellwood City residents Jen Eller, Ashley Smith and Ashley Jubach; and Shelley Collins, of Lynchburg, Va. “Let There Be Lights Weekend”…

Ellwood City Relay for Life Event

Join the Ellwood City Relay for Life organization for their fourth meeting of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ellwood on Thursday, December 7th at 6p.m. They will be meeting at The Beanery, 212 Portersville Road in Ellport, (the old La Isla Mexican Restaurant). They will continue plans for our 2018 event, theme is Super Heroes, Who is Yours?, tentative date June 2nd downtown. Public input and support is welcome.
