With lots of costumes, candy and floats, the annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade was again enjoyed by many this year. Ellwood City’s Trick or Treat is scheduled for tomorrow evening. Notice of Tax Office Hours

The municipal building tax office will be changing hours for the next two months. In November the office will be open only on Wednesdays from 10-3. In December the office will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10-3.


Mayor Donates Basket to Super Soren Fund Raiser

Mayor Anthony J. Court of Ellwood City was honored to donate a basket for a fundraiser that will take place to support the rehabilitation costs for Soren Flook, a young boy who survived a tragic accident. A Ziti Dinner fundraiser will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Wurtemburg Fire Hall from 1p-4p. There will be a huge “basket” auction, and a autographed photo of Steelers’ “Antonio Brown” Door Prize. Festivities will also include “An Enchanted Fairytale Princess” in attendance. Local Man Arrested Last Night, Possessing Several Grams of Cocaine According to the police report last night around 3a.m. an Ellwood City officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked on Bridge Street with the headlights on. At this time a female was observed in the drivers seat. Officers observed a male from a neighboring residence walk towards the vehicle which had now been parked and without any headlights on, he entered the drivers seat and started driving. Paint Party for Retreat Fund

The North Sewickley Presbyterian Church Retreat Committee is hosting a Paint Party by artist Ken Cole on Saturday, November, 11, 2017 to raise money for the retreat fund to help pay for speakers and scholarships. The session will be from 1:30 to 4:00p.m. at the North Sewickley Presbyterian Church. The cost is $30.00 per person payable at the door, checks payable to the church. New Brighton Police Department Release Photos of Burglar, Ask Public for Help to Identity

The New Brighton Police Department are asking for help finding a burglar whose been seen on home security system footage. The surveillance was taken at a home on 10th Street in New Brighton, and much like the recent story we reported on in Shenango Township, this burglar is going into people’s houses when they are home and stealing from them. It is unclear if the incidents are related. ECABF Executive Officers Positions for Election

The Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation (ECABF) has the following Executive Officers positions coming up for election for the 2018/2019 Seasons: President, Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer.  All positions are a 2 year term. A letter of interest must be emailed and received to Ellwoodcitybaseball@gmail.com by November 5, 2017. Applicants will be notified to set up an interview with the Board of Directors.


EllwoodCity.org’s Annual Costume Contest

Due to the overwhelming participation with previous years, our annual child’s Costume Contest is happening again! We will be accepting photo submissions starting October 31st and ending Nov 2. Submissions will appear on our Facebook gallery page for voting beginning Friday, November 3rd and voting runs through Thursday, November 9th. The Rules: 1. Dress your kids up for Halloween! 2. A Response to the Ellwood City School District on Outsourcing and Negotiations

The game of football has three phases: offense, defense, and special teams. Under each phase is a sub-phase that contributes to a victory, such as passing, rushing, turnovers, tackling, kicking, and punting. All these and more were won by the Panthers of Riverside in a one-sided, full dominant 40-0 victory Friday night. As Riverside was playing spoils to Senior Night at Helling Stadium, all Wolverines were lost on how quickly things turned during the evening.
