Franklin Township Announces 2024 Clean Up Day

Clean up your yard, clean up your home, and clean up your garage! Franklin Township residents are invited to participate in a township clean-up day planned for Saturday, May 4, 2024. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last until 2:00 p.m. for township residents. Residents can drop off trash at the Franklin Township Building located on Route 288 in Fombell. This cleanup event is for township residents only, with two (2) passes allowed per household. A pass is good for one (1) load. PennDOT, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Seeking High School Students for Young Ambassadors Program

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful are inviting 10th -12th grade students to help keep Pennsylvania clean and beautiful through the Young Ambassadors of Pennsylvania program. The program, now in its third year, builds community stewards and civic leaders by empowering young Pennsylvanians to become ambassadors in their community for a shared vision of a clean and beautiful Pennsylvania. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON: Richard Alan Criss, 50, of Edinburg, is charged with Assault after an incident on March 23rd. According to a police report, and at approximately 7:50PM, police responded to a report of an active domestic in Mahoning township. Police found that Criss had engaged in a verbal argument with a 52-year-old female victim of Wampum before brandishing a gun and firing it in the direction of the victim. Groundbreaking Set For New Stonecrest Business Park

Groundbreaking for the Stonecrest Business Park will take place on Thursday, March 28th at 8:30 a.m. at 2298 Route 18 in New Beaver Borough. The 213-acre former site of Stonecrest Golf Course will be the first privately developed park built in Lawrence County in more than 40 years. The proposed business park will house light manufacturing businesses, warehouse space and pad-ready sites with public utilities. Defending Champion Panthers Defeat Rival Wolverines

Ellwood City couldn’t keep up with defending WPIAL and PIAA Champion Riverside and fell 17-2 on Monday afternoon and Sanders Field. Ellwood City and Riverside softball seasons are underway. Each team will look to return to their respective WPIAL class playoffs. Ames Department Stores, once the fourth largest discount retailer in the country that went out of business over two decades ago, has once again announced they are returning – this time in 2026 – according to information posted on its website.
