THEFT: On August 16th, and at approximately 6:00 a.m., police responded to a report of Online Theft. Upon further investigation, officers learned that the victims, a 71-year-old female and 73-year-old male both of Volant, were frauded $3000.00 total from a fake Facebook post regarding listed items for sale according to a criminal complaint. Barry Earns 200th Career Victory; EC Boys Golf Beats OLSH, Girls Upend Sewickley Academy

Ellwood City golf head coach Sam Barry earned his 200th career coaching victory Tuesday afternoon as the Ellwood City boys golf team defeated Our Lady of  Sacred Heart (OLSH) 194-207 at Moon Golf Course. Nate Kennedy shot a team-low round of 36 to lead the Wolverines. Jordan Keller and Jaxon Rozanski each posted rounds of 37 while Adam Jeffcoat (41) and Gino Biondi (43) rounded out the scoring for Ellwood City. Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church Holy Name Society recently hosted a picnic and new member drive. Holy Name Society president, Frank Aloi welcomed the attendees and guests at the picnic, which included the seven most recent HNS members in attendance. Ellwood City Forge Electrical Explosion Sends Two Workers To Hospital

According to multiple news outlets, an electrical explosion at the Ellwood City Forge facility on Sunday sent a Beaver man to a trauma center. James Poduhavac, 46, of Beaver, was flown to the hospital and another was taken for evaluation following the explosion in Ellwood City on Sunday.  Reports relate that Poduhavac sustained severe burns as a result of the incident. Ellwood City, Riverside Each Fall In Season Openers

Ellwood City and Riverside each fell in their respective season openers Friday night. The Wolverines fell 43-14 to Laurel at Helling Stadium. Spartan running back Kolton Carlson collected three 2nd quarter touchdowns as Laurel exploded for 22 points to break a 7-7 tie. Carlson finished with 115 running as the Spartans posted 238 on the ground in the victory. Tyler Smiley rushed for two touchdowns and new placekicker Aiden Huth knocked home a pair of extra points for the Wolverines. Ellwood City Announces 2025 Fall Clean-Up Day

The Borough of Ellwood City has announced its annual fall clean up event scheduled in October. The Fall Clean Up event is scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2025. Drop off will be from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Drop off location is the parking lot at 1210 Factory Avenue in Ellwood City, just west of Adams Manufacturing Building #4 and prior to the Moose Lodge. Historical Society Annual Fund Drive Reaches $10,650.00

The Historical Society received a total of $10,650.00 toward its goal of $12,000.00 for its annual fund drive. Ellwood City will open its regular season next Friday versus the Laurel Spartans. Tickets for the August 22nd home football game versus Laurel can be purchased online at https://gofan.co/app/school/PA6449.
