The annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade took place Saturday afternoon along Lawrence Avenue in downtown Ellwood City. Thousands flocked to the sidewalks to watch and collect candy tossed from the many floats, trucks, and participants in the parade. A year after modifying the borough trick or treat to follow the annual parade, the borough modified the date again this year, moving the 2025 trick or treat date to Saturday, November 1st to initially accommodate the Ellwood City football home playoff game on Friday and also the inclement weather forecasted for Thursday. In a high-scoring section affair, Riverside fell to Mohawk 35-24 to wrap up its regular season. Mohawk quarterback Bobby Fadden accounted for five offensive touchdowns for the Warriors while Panthers quarterback Aiden Gaydosz tossed three touchdowns in defeat. Each quarterback was incredibly accurate and the teams compiled over 700 yards of offense collectively. Ellwood City earned an automatic playoff bid with a thrilling 25-24 comeback victory over Beaver Falls on Friday. The Wolverines trailed by multiple scores at halftime and late in the third quarter before it swung momentum and overcame the deficit. The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team finished with a bronze medal Thursday at the WPIAL Class 2A Cross Country Championships and will advance to the PIAA State Championships next weekend. “As a collective, we had an extremely successful day and I believe we shocked some boys teams,” said head coach Nate Brown. Dick Allen Mural Dedication Schedule For Saturday

The mural honoring Dick Allen, who was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame this past July, will be dedicated Saturday at 4:00 PM in Wampum. Allen’s son, Richard Allen, Jr. of Florida,, and his brother, Ron Allen of Ohio, will be among the family members in attendance. Award-winning artist Ernel Martinez from South Carolina, who created the mural, will be honored at the dedication.
