POLICE: Man Arrested After Investigation Into Domestic Dispute

Pennsylvania State Police have arrested Justin Gates, 31, of Ellwood City after an investigation found Gates in El Dorado Motel located in Shenango Township. According to the police report, on Tuesday, August 25, police were looking for Gates in reference to felony warrants for a separate related incident. Gates was involved in a domestic dispute on Sunday, August 24 where he assaulted his girlfriend and killed his son’s 8 week old puppy. ‘VJ Day’ Ceremony Planned

American Legion Post 157 will be having a ceremony commemorating VJ Day (Victory over Japan). The event will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Legion Park in Ellwood City. There will be a special wreath-laying ceremony celebrating the 75th anniversary. EC Boys Golf Opens Season With Victory Over Mohawk

Ellwood City Boys Golf Team used strong rounds by Joey Hudson and Milo Sesti to collect a season opening victory over Mohawk on Thursday at Stonecrest Golf Course. Sesti fired a team low round of 39 while Hudson finished with a round of 40 to lead the victors to its 214-237 victory. Other Wolverines golfers contributing in victory were Geoffrey Boker (41), Ryan Hampton (43), and Zac Polojac (51). Low round for Mohawk was Jack Barth who fired a round of 42. Calvin Presbyterian Church Hosting GriefShare Program This Fall

Calvin Presbyterian Church will once again host a 13-week GriefShare Program this fall, beginning in September. The program will take place each Sunday from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm beginning September 13 and concluding December 13. The church will have a special session, “Surviving the Holidays”, on November 4 during the time slot. No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. According to a public information release report made available on the PA State Police website, police are looking for Justin Gates, 31, of Ellwood City, PA in connection with a domestic dispute that took place on Sunday. Glenn M. Freed, 79, of Ellwood City passed away peacefully with his family by his side at UPMC Presby Hospital on August 23, 2020. Born November 9, 1940 in Beaver Falls, PA he was the son of the late Martin and Olive Freed. He was married to the late Robyn Wasser Freed. He served as an accountant at Fort Eustis, Virginia in the United States Army from 1959 until 1962 when he was honorably discharged. Cannabis-Focused Investment Banker Reported As Frontrunner To Acquire Ellwood City Medical Center

According to an article published by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette early Friday morning, a cannabis-focused investment bank in California has emerged as a frontrunner to acquire the former Ellwood City Medical Center out of bankruptcy. According to the article, Newport Beach, Calif.-based Pelorus Equity Group Inc., which holds first and second mortgages on the closed medical center, is poised to acquire all of the medical center’s assets, according to recent bankruptcy court filings.
