William J. Barber, 69

New Middletown – William J. Barber 69, passed away at his residence on Sunday morning February 14, 2021. He was born December 2, 1951 in Ellwood City, PA, a son of William G. and Mary K. Grekon Barber. William came to New Middletown twenty years ago and retired from G.M. Lordstown plant after working 30 years as an assembler William married the former Angela M. “Hobo” Dinner Planned For ‘All Aboard Ellwood’ Fundraiser

The Ellwood City McDonald’s along with the “All Aboard Ellwood” committee is holding a ‘hobo’ fundraising event on March 1, 2021. A “HOBO MEAL” (Cheeseburger, small fries, small drink – $3.00) will be served on March 1, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m at the local McDonald’s. 20% of all proceeds will be donated by McDonald’s to help renovate the All Aboard Ellwood caboose recently brought into town and place on Fourth Street across from the former VFW building. “The McDonald’s staff are playing the part, dressing as railroad conductors, complete with conductor hats and red bandanas,” said Dom…

2021-22 Ellwood City Kindergarten Registration Announced

The North Side Primary School in the Ellwood City Area School District will be hosting Kindergarten Registration for the 2021-2022 school year next month. The registration is schedule to take place on Monday, March 29, Tuesday, March 30, and Wednesday, March 31, 2021. POLICE: Beaver Woman Charged With Sexual Assault Of Darlington Minor

According to a Pennsylvania State Police Public Information Release Report, a four month investigation has put a Beaver woman in jail. On February 8th, the Beaver Criminal Investigation Unit responded to a residence in Darlington Township to investigate an alleged sexual assault incident. Upon investigation, it was determined that Janine Young, 37, had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old male juvenile victim numerous times.  The report cites the date(s) of incident ranging from 10/1/2020 to 2/8/2021. Riverside School District To Hold Full Virtual Learning On February 9

According to information made available on the district website, the Riverside Beaver County School District will hold a Virtual Day, February 9th and will operate on a regular schedule. Students will attend school virtually on Tuesday and the district will run on a regular schedule. Students will log into their Google Classroom at 7:35 AM. Antuono Scores 32, Wolverines Power Past Mohawk

Steve Antuono scored a game high 32 points to lead the Ellwood City Wolverines to its 78-45 romp over Mohawk Friday night. The junior connected on six 3-pointers, including four in the second half, to pace the Wolverines offensive attack.  Antuono scored 11 points in the fast paced first quarter which saw Ellwood City take an early 24-8 advantage. Second quarter contributions by senior Sam DiCaprio (8 points) and freshman Joey Roth (6 points) helped the offensive attack in putting Ellwood City comfortably ahead 45-30 at halftime. POLICE: Vehicle Accident On Lawrence Avenue Causes Damages

According to an Ellwood City Police Department report, and on Wednesday, February 3rd at approximately 11:00 p.m., a vehicle accident on Lawrence Avenue caused damages outside of a local restaurant establishment. Ellwood City Police were dispatched to 708 Lawrence Avenue at Mike’s Main Street for a motor vehicle accident. LEOC advised that a vehicle had struck the building. Upon arrival, police located the operator of a 2020 Ford Transit Van who was identified as Donald Frelin II, 31, of Ellwood City.
