Borough of Ellwood City Hires New Part-Time Police Officer

The Borough of Ellwood City has hired a new part-time police officer. Officer Salvador “Sal” Zepeda started his first day on the job Wednesday after being hired by Ellwood City Borough Council on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Zepeda is the departments third part-time officer. Mayor Anthony Court and Council President George Celli swore in the new officer who started his duties this week.  According to the ECPD, Mayor Court and Council President Celli were instrumental in getting Officer Zepeda hired. Ellwood City Volleyball Defeats Freedom on Senior Night

The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team easily dispatched Freedom Tuesday evening to remain undefeated on its season. The girls defeated the visiting Bulldogs (1-8 overall) in straight sets, 25-12, 25-8, and 25-8 to earn its eleventh victory of the season. The victory came on senior night for the girls volleyball team.  The EC junior varsity team also collected a straight set victory (25-11, 25-13) to bring its record to 7-4 on the season. Tickets on Sale For Ellwood City/Riverside Football Game

Adult Tickets for the Ellwood City versus Riverside football game to be played on Friday, October 16th will be sold on Thursday, Oct 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the hallway by the large gymnasium at Lincoln High School. Ticket price is $5.00 and no tickets will be sold at the gate.  According to the district, masks are required and COVID-19 waiver must be signed to enter the stadium.  Social distancing will still be recommended with the limited attendance. BC3 Project Pink to Help Fight Breast Cancer

(Butler, PA) Butler County Community College, whose students, staff and guests have raised nearly $20,000 to benefit breast cancer research since 2010, is hosting the sale of pink ribbons and the collection of financial donations this month to assist a nonprofit organization that raises awareness and funds for the treatment of the disease. BC3’s social awareness club is directing BC3’s 2020 Project Pink during breast cancer awareness month. Proceeds will benefit the Side-Out Foundation, a Virginia charity that raises funds through mainly volleyball-related events. Undefeated EC Boys Cross Country Team Wins Section Championship

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team remained undefeated with a victory this week and earned itself a section championship. The Wolverines boys defeated Riverside and Mohawk on Tuesday in earning their eleventh victory of the season.  The boys (11-0 overall) will next turn to MAC Championships at Brush Creek Park on October 14th beginning at 3:00 p.m. Varsity results: Ellwood City 21, Mohawk 38; Ellwood City 20, Riverside 43. POLICE REPORTS: Criminal Complaints

The following are police criminal complaints filed at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Lawrence County office of Honorable Jerry G. Cartwright. Dorothy Haswell, 45, of Ellwood City, is charged with Simple Assault and Harassment after an incident on Friday, September 25.  According to the criminal complaint, the victim stated that on the night prior, Haswell walked into her residence without knocking or permission around 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 24.  After a verbal confrontation Haswell jumped over the coffee table in the residence and assaulted the victim.  The victim later came to the ECPD to place her report. Sesti Leads EC Golf; EC Volleyball & Cross Country Remain Undefeated

Milo Sesti led the Ellwood City boys golf team to victory on Tuesday while the Ellwood City girls volleyball team and the Ellwood City co-ed cross country team were each victorious and both remain unbeaten. For the boys golf team, the 198-225 victory over Shenango at Delmar Golf Course was led by Sesti’s round of 36. Joining Sesti in the 30’s was Joey Hudson who finished with a round of 39 for the Wolverines.
