Ellwood City Public Library Activities For Week of November 16

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. PLEASE NOTE, WE’RE OPEN! The Library will be open by appointment only. Call the library to set up an appointment to browse for books or use a computer. Anything printed must be paid for with exact change or check. We will not be making copies at this time. Newspapers and magazines will not be available. Limitations for patrons are 10 books and three, either books on CD or DVD’s, per person. Riverside Beaver County School District Announces COVID-19 Dashboard

In a letter released on the district website this week by Superintendent Bret Trotta, the Riverside Beaver County School District has announced a COVID-19 Dashboard.  The statement reads as follows: Dear Riverside Families, In an effort to maintain open lines of communication with our families and reduce the number of phone calls associated with COVID-19, the Riverside Beaver County School District will begin to maintain the RBCSD COVID-19 Dashboard. Upcoming Ellwood City Wrestling Season Announced

Interested in wrestling? The Ellwood City Varsity and Junior High Wrestling season is starting soon! The first practice will take place on Friday, November 20, 2020, scheduled to take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Lincoln High School Cafeteria. Practices will be Monday thru Friday with optional lifting sessions three times a week at 3:10 p.m. There are temperature checks before every practice/hand sanitizer and the mats cleaned to CDC standards. There are several tournaments the team is planning to attend this season including, Panther Holiday Classic (Varsity Only), Mid-Winter Mayhem (Varsity Only), and West Mifflin Christmas Tournament….

VOTE NOW! Annual Halloween Costume Contest

EllwoodCity.org has collected our annual Halloween costume contest entries. Submitted photos will appear on EllwoodCity.org’s Facebook page in a 2020 HALLOWEEN CONTEST photo album. (VIEW PHOTO ALBUM) To vote for your favorite photo, simply ‘like’ it, then ‘share’ it to obtain more votes from your friends!  Voting continues on until 8:00 a.m. Thursday, November 12 when we will tally votes and announce our winners.  A Facebook ‘Like’ constitutes a vote. The top two photos that receive the most votes win cash prizes, courtesy of EllwoodCity.org. $75.00 for first place, $25.00 for second place.

Girls Volleyball Team Advances To WPIAL Championship

The Ellwood City girls volleyball team showed resilience Wednesday night, battling back after dropping their first set to earn a 3-1 match victory over Avonworth that places the undefeated Wolverines in the WPIAL Class-2A championship game on Saturday. “It has not been an easy road but we always find a way to come together and win,” said head coach Jenna Ricciuti. “The semifinal game might have been the hardest we’ve seen yet.” The victory earned the Wolverines (17-0 overall) their first title game berth and will pit Ellwood City against top-seeded, and fellow unbeaten, North Catholic “This isn’t North Catholic’s…

Registration Open For 25th Annual Gobbler’s Gallop On Thanksgiving

The Gobbler’s Gallop turns a quarter century. The 25th annual Gobbler’s Gallop will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, at Riverside High School’s Memorial Stadium. The 10K race will start at 9:00 a.m. sharp while the 5k race will be begin at 10:15 a.m.  The event also offers a 5k for walkers that will begin at 9:0 a.m. Registration will begin at the Riverside Kindergarten Center at 8:00 a.m. for 10k and 5k walkers.  All people must wear a mask during registration and at the start of the race but not while running. Happy Halloween From Mayor Court

Halloween 2020 was a success! “It was a safe, fun-filled evening in Ellwood City,” according to a statement from Mayor Court office. “Thanks to all the participants and all seemed to use extreme precautions, motorists included. POLICE REPORTS: Criminal Complaints

The following are police criminal complaints filed at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Lawrence County office of Honorable Jerry G. Cartwright. Kristy Penrod, 39, of Ellwood City, is charged with driving under the influence after a hit and run accident on September 19. According to the report, the accident took place in the area of 6th Street and Franklin Avenue and after the accident, the caller/victim related to police that after he spoke to Penrod about the accident and collected her license plate, she left the area quickly.
