New Ellwood City Police Officer Introduced

The Borough of Ellwood City Police Department has introduced a new police officer this week. Robert Bird II was sworn in as part of the ceremony led by Mayor Anthony Court. Mayor Court swore Officer Bird in as the newest member of the Ellwood City Police Department. Also attending was Borough of Ellwood City Council President George Celli, pictured on left, and Officer Bird’s proud mother, Jodi Barton on the right.  


GOLF: Greer Qualifies For PIAA Championships, Riverside Team Qualifies For WPIALs

Riverside senior Logan Greer was among the 18 golfers who qualified for PIAA Championships after his fifth place finish at the par-70 Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, PA, during the WPIAL AA Boys Individual Final & PIAA Qualifier event. Greer fired an 8-over round of 78 (40-38) on the afternoon. Steady on the front nine with four pars and only five bogies, Greer collected his only birdie of his round with a three on the par-4 17th hole. Ellwood City Cross Country Claims Undefeated Section Championship

The Ellwood City Wolverines boys cross country team collected its final regular season victory this week, finishing its campaign a perfect 10-0 and claiming its section championship. For the Wolverines, this is their second consecutive undefeated section championship season under head coach Mark Hall. “I couldn’t be more proud of this whole team,” says Hall. Bernstine Announces PennDOT Job Fair

HARRISBURG – Working to assist people in the 10th Legislative District who are seeking employment, Rep. Nearly $385,000 Awarded To Help Local Students Stay Connected

NEW CASTLE – Grant funding of $383,660 will help ensure students in two Lawrence County school districts don’t fall behind because they lack the tech tools to stay connected. MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT: According to a report, police were dispatched to a one vehicle accident on Plain Grove Road, near Harlansburg Road, in Lawrence County on Sunday, September 12 at approximately 5:45 p.m. where, upon arrival, it was found after interviewing witnesses, the operator of 2010 Harley-Davidson had fallen over on his motorcycle with it resting on his leg causing a suspected serious leg injury. The operator, David Difrischia, 58, of Ellwood City, was transported to the Grove City Hospital where signs of impairment were observed. The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team remains undefeated after its victory at Southside Beaver on Tuesday.
