Annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt Returns!

The Easter Bunny Is Back.

The 27th Annual community Easter Egg Hunt is set to return to an in-person event in April!

After COVID safety concerns cancelled the event entirely in 2020 and later forced a drive-thru only event in 2021, the event will return to Ewing Park on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

“We are working on so much to make up for the two years we didn’t get to hold our event,” says committee member Kathy Brenner.

The egg hunt is for all area children ages 10 and under and the event is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.

The event will follow all CDC safety recommendations as it prepares for 1,500 children.

As in the past, each child will get candy and prizes with special prizes hidden in various eggs along with 25 Golden Eggs that are redeemed for special prizes.

There will also be a special hunt for all registered special needs children; each special need child will receive treats and a toy.

“This year is going to big one of our biggest events,” says Brenner. “We are handing out over 15,000 eggs.”

In addition to the egg hunt, the event will feature two petting zoo’s, games, Princesses Party, trackless train, monster trucks, face painting, balloons, face painting, and special characters.

“We truly appreciate all of the support we have received over the past 26 years,” says the committee. “It’s been our pleasure to have the ability through donations to be able to honor our community children through this special event.”

Due to COVID-19 last year, the committee handed out more than 2,400 treat bags in Wampum, Ellwood City, Perry Township, and the Franklin Plaza in a drive-thru method. The treat bags were provided through generous donations and the committee thanks those who donated and have continued to donate.
