CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: On Wednesday, August 24th, at approximately 7:58 p.m., PSP New Castle responded to a reported trespassing on Rim Road, Slippery Rock Township. Upon arrive a 57-year-old Ellwood City female stated that an unknown male and female broke her antique ladder, valued at $800.00, that was hanging from the front porch of the residence. On Friday, August 19th, two nonprofits – the Pennsylvania Solar Center and Generation180 – joined with school officials over Zoom to explore how many Pennsylvania school districts are supplying up to 100% of their electricity needs with solar energy, and how schools are investing the cost savings into their students. . Clyde Houk, 81, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away August 7, 2022. Born in Ellwood City PA to the late Paul &Betty (Schoen) Houk. Clyde was an Educator, from the age of 19 starting at Shenango Elementary, and many other schools from Colorado, Hawaii, Principal at Wampum Elementary and ended as a Gifted Coordinator in Ellwood City on retirement, Clyde was also a Organ and Keyboard player for many bands in the Ellwood City area. Lincoln High School Pie Festival, Riverside Panther Night This Week!

Both Ellwood City and Riverside school districts will kick off their respective back to school seasons with community events on Thursday, August 25th. Ellwood City will host its annual Lincoln High School Marching Blue Band Pie Festival at the high school gymnasium. Doors for the Pie Festival open at 6:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:00 p.m.. The band will perform selections from their 2022 pre-game and halftime shows, all fall sports teams will be introduced, and you can eat pie. Ellwood City Co-Ed Golf Team is enjoying some early season success, collecting victories in its first two matches of the season. The Wolverines opened up the season with a home victory over Union on Friday (223-259) and collected another victory at home on Tuesday, defeating New Castle (214-256). Ellwood City Wolves Recognizes Area Student Athletes

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II met on Wednesday August 10, 2022, and recognized student athletes from Lincoln and Riverside Schools for their accomplishments these past school years. The Club recognizes local citizens who excel in their school or perform volunteer work in the community, epitomizing the Clubs moto: “Pro Bono Publico”-For the Good of the Public.
