ASSAULT: On July 4th at approximately 9:15 p.m, PA State Police investigated the report of a fight between neighbors over fireworks at a residence on Railroad Avenue, Wayne Township. Three suspects have been charged including Mary Cruz, 46, of Youngstown, and a 16-year-old female from Youngstown. Dr. Nick Neupauer To Receive Inaugural Leadership Excellence Award

Dr. Nick Neupauer, an Ellwood City native and the longest-serving chief executive officer in the 57-year history of Butler County Community College, will receive on Wednesday an inaugural leadership award named after a longtime Lawrence County resident. Ellwood City Girls Volleyball has officially started for the Lady Wolverines as they defeated the Ambridge Bridgers in three straight sets to pick up the early season victory. The Wolverines came right out of the gate, having a double-digit lead in the first set, ultimately winning 25-19. Wampum American Legion Resuming Its All You Can Eat Breakfast Event

After a summer break, the Wampum American Legion Post 749 will be hosting its next All You Can Eat Breakfast on Saturday, September 17th. The group took a break in July and August and are back to serving breakfast for the community. September’s breakfast will be hosted at the Wampum American Legion Club, 436 Beaver Street, Wampum, PA. The breakfast is scheduled to take place from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and will feature scrambled eggs, hash browns, french toast, sausage, biscuits and gravy, bacon, and toast. Ellwood City Community Enrichment and the Ellwood City Area Public Library will be hosting Ellwood City’s Storytelling Festival on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 4:00pm – 7:30pm in Ewing Park, Ellwood City, PA. The festival is a beloved community event that features free activities for children and professional storytellers. Ellwood City graduate Breanna Reisinger headlines a group of decorates starters returning to the The Butler County Community College volleyball squad this fall. Two All-Americans, a middle hitter selected to a national championship all-tournament team, and three other starters who as first-year players in 2021 led the Pioneers to a 12th consecutive winning season and a sixth-place national finish.
