Riverside High School Top Five and Graduating Class of 2018

Riverside High School has 102 seniors graduating in the class of 2018. There are five students who have received high honors. The top five students are listed in alphabetical order below: Jenna R. Hart, daughter of Randy and Diane Hart, played on Riverside’s varsity soccer and track teams throughout high school and was captain of the soccer team. Lincoln High School has 120 seniors graduating in the class of 2018. There are eight students who will graduate with high honors. Ellwood City Residents Raise Awareness: Scam Calls

Caller ID spoofing and scam phone calls are at an all-time high and these calls are impacting many Ellwood City residents. Ellwood City Police Department received a call from Beverly Hazen about a possible scam phone call she received. Hazen received a call from a man pretending to be her grandson. The man stated he had been arrested in Philadelphia for a DUI. The man wanted Hazen to send money to bail him out of jail. She felt odd about the situation and hung up on the man. Suspicious Man “Waving Knife Around” at Area Bar

Scott Alan Jackson, 23, Ellwood City was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness May 19 at the Main Street Bar and Grill at 708 Lawrence Ave. Jackson was reportedly waving a knife around at the bar making others uncomfortable. Ellwood City Police Officers were dispatched to the Main Street Bar and Grill, for a suspicious person sitting at the bar. The male was reportedly wearing a camouflage hat and glasses appeared to be highly intoxicated and kept taking a large knife out of his pocket and waving it around. Man Charged with Throwing Items at Occupied Vehicles

WAYNE TOWNSHIP — Police have identified James John McDonald, 43, of 1052 Main St., Wampum, as a suspect. McDonald threw an iced tea bottle at an unmarked state police cruiser. There have been many reports made to local police about suspects throwing items at other cars while driving down the road. In an Ellwood City Police report, a man reported he was driving down the road when the car in front of him threw an object at his windshield, causing damage to the vehicle. BC3 and CCBC Come Together To Offer New Entrepreneurship Program to Ellwood City Area High Schools

On Thursday, May 17, officials from Butler County Community College, Community College of Beaver County, Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce and Lincoln and Riverside high schools had an announcing ceremony to kick off the RIV-ELL Entrepreneurship Program. The RIV-ELL Entrepreneurship Program is an enterprising partnership program between businesses, schools, colleges, service clubs and foundations in Ellwood City. Traffic Stop Leads to One Arrest and One Citation

Taylor Foley, 21, was placed under arrest by Ellwood City Police for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and Kory Coles, 29, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct after a traffic stop led to a car search and field sobriety test. On the fourth Monday of May, patrons of Ellwood City will gather in the North Side neighborhood for the annual Memorial Day Parade through town. Youth organizations, marching bands, city and state officials, fire trucks, police cruisers, and other community members participate in the parade across town to Veterans Memorial Park where the closing ceremonies are held.
