Suspicious Man “Waving Knife Around” at Area Bar

Scott Alan Jackson, 23, Ellwood City was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness May 19 at the Main Street Bar and Grill at 708 Lawrence Ave. Jackson was reportedly waving a knife around at the bar making others uncomfortable.

Ellwood City Police Officers were dispatched to the Main Street Bar and Grill, for a suspicious person sitting at the bar. The male was reportedly wearing a camouflage hat and glasses appeared to be highly intoxicated and kept taking a large knife out of his pocket and waving it around.

Officers entered the bar from the front and back entrances. Jackson tried to make a run for it out the backdoor, but was intercepted by an officer. The officer who entered from the front of the building and make his way to the back of the bar where Jackson was and observed him arguing with the other officer, while highly intoxicated.

Officers advised Jackson to put his hand on the wall multiple times, which he did, but kept removing them repeatedly, officers then hand cuffed Jackson. Officers located a large 10-inch blade knife with a black handle in Jackson’s front pocket.

Jackson told police that the knife was used for protection. Officers then advised him he was scaring people inside the bar, by taking it out of his pocket.

Jackson was placed in the cruiser and transported to the station. When officers arrived at the station and took Jackson out of the cruiser he refused to walk into the station. Officers had to use force to get Jackson to the holding cell area.

It took multiple officer to conduct a body search of Jackson, due to his level of intoxication and his inability to stand up and still without help. Jackson was placed in cell No. 2 for five hours at the ECPD and was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
