A second place finish by Anthony Spadafore and strong performance by Colton Crizer led Ellwood City to its cross country victory on Tuesday at Laurel.
Ellwood City defeated host Laurel, (17-44), Union (15-50), and Freedom (15-50) at the meet.
Spadafore finished with a time of 18:15, good for 2nd place, while Joel Brooks (18:23, 3rd place), Crizer (18:31, 4th place), Ian Stoneking (19:33, 6th place), and Nick Wise (19:39, 7th place) helped in the victory.
“Crizer ran a great race,” said head coach Mark Hall.
The boys cross country team improved to 5-0 on the season. The team will run next Tuesday at Southside Beaver against Shenango and Beaver Falls & South Side.
Ellwood City Golf Loses To Riverside
Ellwood City co-ed golf suffered back-to-back losses as they lose to Riverside 212-219 in a tough matchup.
Leading the Wolverines was Milo Sesti shooting a match-low 38 followed by Zac Polojac with a 42.
EC now 7-3 (6-3) on the season will look to bounce back tomorrow at Shenango.
Ellwood City Volleyball Falls to Shenango
After collecting a first set victory, the Ellwood City girls volleyball team was felled by Shenango 3-2 on Tuesday.
Ellwood City won the first match 25-23, but saw Shenango rally with three consecutive set victories, 25-14, 25-18, and 25-12, for the Wildcats victory.
