Charles Robert “Bob” Lambert, 82, of Perry Township passed away at Cambridge Falls, Big Beaver Borough, on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Born in New Castle on January 28, 1941, Bob was the son of the late Robert Andrew and Sara Houk Lambert.  He is survived by his wife, Lynda McKinney Lambert, whom he married on April 14, 1961 in Auburn, Indiana at the First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Borough Offering Christmas Tree Disposal

According to information made available by the Borough of Ellwood City, residents may drop off live Christmas trees (decorations removed) at Stiefel Park now through January 31, 2024. The announcement was made at Monday’s regularly scheduled borough council meeting. Treecycling is a process that grinds old, unwanted live trees into other useful materials — mainly mulch. First Annual Shoaf’s Spaghetti Supper To Be Held

The first annual Shoaf’s Spaghetti Supper will be held on February 24, 2024 at Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church (291 Wurtemburg Road, Ellwood City PA 16117) from 5:00pm to 7:30pm in memory of our dear friend, Marc Shoaf. Camp Allegheny Received State Grant For Improvement Project

HARRISBURG – The Salvation Army Camp Allegheny was among those receiving state grants announced by Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) today. Mrs. Frieda Theresia Pitelka, 93, of Ellwood City passed away the afternoon of January 14, 2024 at Quality Life Service of New Castle. Born in Zemun, Yugoslavia on August 23, 1930, Frieda was the daughter of the late Josef and Jovanika (Dragutinovic) Viola. Frieda married her beloved husband Frank Pitelka in Austria on September 11, 1948. They had made their home in Ellwood City since 1952. After sixty-nine years of marriage Frank preceded her in death in 2018. Frieda was a homemaker and well known for her baking skills. Ellwood City Historical Society To Award Four Scholarships

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will award four (4) fifteen hundred dollar ($1,500.00) scholarships this year. All graduating seniors living in the Ellwood City Area School District or the Riverside School District are eligible. Applications and requirements may be obtained from either high school Guidance Counselor, or from the Ellwood City Area Historical Society. Borough Manager Provides Update on Wampum Avenue Pump Station Project During Council Regular Meeting

During the regular meeting of Ellwood City Borough Coucil Tuesday night, Borough Manager Kevin Swogger said the Wampum Avenue Pump Station Project is about 40 percent completed. The Borough had announced the start of the project in October in an effort to improve the infrastructure in the area. The project is a sewer upgrade for multiple existing sewer transport lines in the wooded area East of Wampum Ave. A pump station will also be built to collect from these lines to be transported to the Ellwood City Borough Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment.
