Mayor: “Saturation” Program to Target Unruly Motorists

Mayor Anthony Court announced during Monday’s Borough Council meeting that a “Saturation” program for motor vehicles will be launching in the borough.

Not only will the Ellwood City Police Department be ticketing motorists for speeding, but there will also be stops and possible consequences for other violations including such actions as not using turn signals, driving with expired inspections, reckless and erratic driving and other violations of the Pennsylvania motor vehicle codes.

Court said checkpoints will be set up at random places throughout the borough where officers will be working to enforce these codes and to remove vehicles that shouldn’t be on the streets. He said that the speed traps will also continue throughout the borough.

According to the Mayor, making sure that drivers are operating their vehicles properly is vital to the safety of the community.

So glad to hear about this….288 is a speeding road way, cars pass on the double lines mostly from the police station and the level stretch going into Zelinople and the return. Also, lot of tailgating. There is also a lot of speeding on Mercer Road, way over the 35mph.

    Thank you for this effort.

Great, just what we need more police handling traffic offenses instead of fighting the real crime that goes on In our town. Just another way for Ellwood to generate money under the illusion of safety. Looks like I know who to vote out next election. So sad to see my tax dollars being abused in this manner. I guess I understand though, it’s easier to write traffic tickets than bust down a dope dealers door.
