Ellwood City Decorated with Signs & Teal Ribbons For SAAM Day of Action

Mayor Anthony J. Court, Ellwood City Council and the Ellwood City Police Department joined forces with ARISE, formerly the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County, on Tuesday, April 4th to recognize SAAM Day of Action.

The first Tuesday of every April is the Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) Day of Action. The Day of Action is an opportunity to start off the month with highly visible and coordinated actions.

They assisted ARISE staff by decorating the city with signs and teal ribbons to raise awareness in Lawrence County. The collaboration highlights the importance of community partnerships in addressing social issues such as sexual violence. By working together, we can create safer communities for all and ensure that survivors of sexual assault receive the support they deserve.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month calls attention to the fact that sexual violence is widespread and impacts every person in the community. SAAM aims to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate communities on how to prevent it.

As the only domestic violence emergency shelter and sexual assault agency in Lawrence County, ARISE’s comprehensive programming serves to address many client needs under one roof. ARISE programs, along with those of the many community partners we collaborate with, offer practical solutions and helpful opportunities to the families we serve. Our services are free to all victims in Lawrence County and surrounding communities regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation, income level, or disability. [READ MORE]
